No question USA is the favorite. Amazing team with a lot of great future stars.

70-30 towards the USA IMO

Czechs need a very solid mistake free (for U18) 60 minute game. States need a good period to put us away.

Czech has a real chance for an upset here I feel. If Czechs win this one, they will also beat FIN or SWE in the final.
 
I don’t think this US team is unbeatable. I just don’t see Czech Republic keeping it that close. If anyone at this tournament could, Sweden. Russia-USA would be an excellent game in this age group. Those are the two strongest 2004 age groups.

The same Sweden who lost to Latvia? 4-3 against Finland was't anything impressive by them either. Shots about even. Swedish goalie is better. That's it.

I feel like Czechs got a better chance to beat USA than Finland or Sweden has a chance to beat USA.

I do think Czechs will go like hell...

Surprised it's Shatninger (not even close on spelling) as the States already saw him, thought they'd go with Spunar (who I thought was the starter). I remember a US player on an interview said they figured out to beat Sahtninger low blocker side or something like that. Thought a different look might be good.

Basically our big line needs to score and draw penalties. Everyone else needs to try and keep it even.

For the US - run 4 lines and just tire us out at 5 on 5 with exceptional depth and eventually score.

Czechs need to score first and keep it close.

On paper I agree but there is something about Finn's and important games. That damn sisu! They seem to come up big a lot lately when it matters.
 
Sapo is like JP on the Oilers.. not stylisticallly or posiition wise. JP is eating a lot of shit in Edmonton because he doesn't score. The smart fans point out he's a possession monster and his lines always score and he makes everyone better. The traditional fans point out he has 3 goals in 3 months and plays with McD. Lacks finnishing ability. That is what Sapo is to me.. he stands out so much to me in the game and I can see how he got his A rating as he is so noticeable out there. Boxcars don't line up though.

As I type thiat.. US PP coming up on a questionalbe call.

LOL 5 on 3 coming up. US with a delayed tripping call (in O zone) and while Czechs pull goalie they tripped another guy (in O Zone). I"m assuming their coach just had on Aneurysm.lol

I doubt we get a better chance to score in this game!

Sale to Kulich... awful start to 5 on 3 but once we setup... wow!

Still have a 5 on 4.

Kulich with a goal in every game.

Powerplay is now 12 for 24 and 50%.

US has been better at evens. Schnatt with some big saves!

The difference is some silly US PP's... all in the Ozone and all blatant trips and holds. Coach is probably not happy!
 
I'm angry at myself that I didn't bet money for Czech's win or for a tie (OT). I had a hunch that the match would be like this.
