I wouldn't mind seeing Thompson moved up to 2C next to Gaudreau and Atkinson. Big shot, soft hands . . . could pot more than a few goals there. Has to be a better option than Derek Ryan.

Is Thompson a better player/better option right now than Ryan? I wasn't a fan of Ryan in Carolina, but he's a guy that should do much better on larger ice (did well in Austria and the SweHL), and he can distribute the puck pretty well. I think his role is win face-offs, get the puck to Gaudreau and Atkinson and be defensively responsible.

Don't worry. If you see that Butcher had 3 points, it's usually pretty safe to assume they were all assists.

US really needs to add a top 4 defenseman from the NHL. Butcher has been good but majority of the defensemen so far have handled the puck like it’s a grenade in the defensive zone and the coverage has been all over the place. Any of Niskanen/Krug/Dumoulin/Schmidt would make a huge difference for the back end and would be nice to get a C too

Nice win by the team.

While the shots were lopsided, the US generated a lot of quality chances and flubbed quite a lot of them too.

Kinkaid was strong. Larkin and Murphy as always showed up big. Gaudreau struggled today. Hughes did well.

Faceoffs were a huge issue and why Canada had so much possession. Also way too much puck watching in the defensive zone. That's usually a problem for the team and something they need to clean up, otherwise it's too easy to have your gaps exploited on the big ice.

God we need another center - Tyler Johnson hopefully. Terrible at the dot and just hard to keep consistent pressure on with Ryan, White, and Thompson down the middle...

Oh those turnovers. I think once the linemates get used to wach other there will be crisper passing. Need to workout on the Dzone breakout as well. The team will be less sloppy as the tourney moves on.

definitely, sloppy hockey overall - for most of the players on both teams, they haven't played in about a month prior to Monday...it was expected. But the speed of the game was glorious, and this US team is going to give other countries fits trying to keep up with them.

Everybody seemed to be fighting the puck tonight. Ice seemed pretty awful. Bounces all over the place.

We need some better defenseman. Only pairing who played well was Oesterle-Pionk who both deserve a bigger role. Martinez had a bad game, but he's a good player. Butcher was good offensively, but terrible defensively. The rest aren't good enough. Need 3 new defensemen.

Kinkaid was very good. Lets see if it continues, but a good start, and if he plays like this, we can win Gold.

We need to put Kane in the middle. Coleman, White, Ryan, these guys are not good. Also should have Debrincat as the RW on Kane's line with Gaudreau.
