Here's the answer to your question: "Team USA is composed of participants from the 2005 USA Hockey Select 16 Festival, which was held June 25-July 1 at the ESL Sports Centre in Rochester, N.Y., and featured many of America's best hockey players born in 1989."

I'm familiar with a couple of the players, specifically Llewellyn and Petrecki (who was a drafted in the 1st round of the OHL draft this year). Excellent defensive prospects.

This is a select team that will play in a European tournament in August (against the Czechs, Slovaks, Swiss and Germans). Players who will be with the NTDP's U17 team are not included. Llewellyn, Petrecki, Hayes and Hoeffel are the top players. They would have been locks for the NTDP team but decided against joining. To be honest, I am not familiar with a number of these players.

U17 Select Team to Switzerland is not the NTDP U17 team

NTDP U17 players (who have been picked already) are not eligable for any of these spots. This team going to Switzerland are players that are a combination of players not offered spots on NTDP as of yet and a few who didn't want to go to the NTDP program for some resason.

Prior to the Select 17 Festival the players offered spots were

John Albert
Mike Cieslak
Colby Cohen
Ian Cole
Cade Fairchild
Ryan Hayes
David Kolomatis
Joe Lavin
Brad Phillips
Matt Rust
Teddy Ruth
Ryan Schnell
C.J. Severyn
Kevin Shattenkirk
Justin Vaive
James Van Riemsdyk
Brennan Vargas

Some people might have been added after the festival

Anthony Maiani is the younger brother of Ohio State forward Domenic Maiani. Anthony will be headed for Sioux City (USHL) this fall (if memory serves me correctly).

Thomas Serratore is the son of current Air Force (and former DU) coach Frank Serratore, and if he's anything like his dad, he'll be a fiery competitor.
