Congratulations to Team USA. They deserve full credit for a great win. I have no problems with the shootouts. If Canada had won- what would the other Canadian fans be saying about shootouts? Canada could not even score one goal.

Canada choked away two goal leads twice, and could not score in the OT and Shootout. Enough with the excuses. USA is on par with Canada at the World Junior hockey stage. They will probably even pass it in the years to come with the great talent that is coming up through the ranks and the US NTDP.

USA has beaten Canada 4 straight times (3 gold medal games and one semi-final game) when it mattered the most since 2004. They were the best team the whole tournament. Much respect to Team USA. I love Canada, but as a Canadian- even i get sick of this "Hockey is our Game", Bumper Stickers. Canada has one *** Gold Medal in Eight Years. They have laid an egg time in and time out the last eight years except in 2015. Absolutely embarrassing to proclaim yourself the best, and have one Gold in the last 8 years. TSN Propaganda is a joke.

In a follow up- i do not want to hear Canadian fans bringing up McDavid, and how Canada would have won with other players in the NHL. During the Lockout 4 years ago, Canada laid an egg in this tournament with all the supposed top players being available. You cannot call yourself the best, when you have one Gold Medal in the last 8 years. Absolutely embarrassing for me to see my fellow Canadians making excuses. We are simply not that superior in Junior Hockey like TSN proclaims we are. The US is on par with Canada, and will probably surpass it soon.

Why is it that some Canadians are suddenly needing to reaffirm themselves as the top power in the world? The lot of you have handled yourselves with the class and dignity that I have come to expect and others seem to think the pissing contest is somehow still on.

Other countries have had over 50 years to get their act together. Inevitably sometimes they're going to win instead

It works both ways. With two countries with big populations you are going to get a wide range of....opinions. It's only to be expected...it is up to the person what they actually believe the majority of that said country thinks instead of nitpicking the bad comments and painting a whole nation with one brush.

See a few of your guys that want to claim the throne after 1 tournament.

Congrats to USA and Canada on a phenomenal, memorable game!

Its a shame IIHF doesnt use Continuous OT.

In just happy the best "team" won!!

USA!!

Enough crying over split milk, gents.

USA was the better country in this tourney....good enough to beat us not once but twice in our own backyard.

Now be big boys about this, and congratulate 'em for the win.

****-measuring contests and "ya well we won these OTHER tourneys so u still suck lol" won't help at all, and it really makes us look like sore losers.

Agree completely, but from what I'm seeing that's in response to a few homer posters suggesting that Canada losing is 'this' tourney is suddenly an indication that USA is superior in hockey. So some are just merely pointing out that on a true best on best...USA is not there yet....again...'Yet'...certainly a possibility down the road...and not just USA, that could hold true for many of the other countries as well like Sweden, Finland etc. But certainly no logical person would suggest this now suddenly means Canada at this moment is no longer the country with the most depth. Best on best - hard to argue that they aren't clearly the country to beat. But I digress.

Cool. I'll look up his name and see what I can find on him. Thanks.

Oh, and Ben Shapiro is awesome. :)

EDIT: Wow, he's only 16, and has already played in MLS for the Whitecaps! That's amazing! This kid could really be a star.

Haha him, Jordan Hamilton and Cyle Larin are pretty much team Canada's future in soccer, but I am most excited for Alphonso. Just watch his highlights on youtube. He has world class skills. Just hasn't put them all together yet, but that is expected at 15 (when he was playing games for the Caps last season.)

And yes he is! :p

No shame in this loss for the Canadian players. They outplayed a very good American team, and really dominated them in the 3rd period and OT especially. Didn't get the bounces, then lost in the shootout which is always a coin toss.

It's a single game elimination tournament, sometimes you play really well, outplay the opposition, but still lose, that's what happened here. It happens, still proud of the way this team played. Was one of the less talented Canadian WJC teams in recent years, but they played with a lot of heart, and were extremely close to winning it.

Do you realize the USA's talent pool is twice the size of what was in 96?
We are produce elite hockey players in Florida, Texas and ****ing Arizona. Your time in the sun is coming to an end and The USA will be the dominant power in hockey and nothing ya gonna do can stop it.

Again, this song has been sung for 20 years now. Let me know when the US decides to do something with this talent of theirs, like win a senior level event.

Keep living in the past, so you are telling me, no matter what the US does from now on, no matter how many times we keep winning, "Canada will always be number one, because we said so! Oh and we have Crosby and McDavid" :shakehead

Well no. But in order for anyone to take the US more seriously they have to start at the very least stringing together more than one win every 3-4 years.

Doesn't really matter where he was born. He's going to play for Canada. On the Caps right now. Got regulae gametime as a 15 year old against men and looked really good. 16 now and should have another good year. Kid is a phenom and he already has the big dogs watching him.

If he's playing for Canada I'll take it!!

It's times like this that I wish the NHL would take over running the WJC. Handing out medals via the shootouts is a joke. Might as well flip a coin.

Well, they did also miss a very blatant Clague hold call late in the 3rd period.

I'm not even arguing that we were or weren't getting calls, merely pointing out it goes both ways. To say they favoured Canada is weak since I can point a few missed in OT. It was obvious refs put the whistles away unless it was too many men or delay of game.

Canada has little to no rights in complaining of officiating when the blatant hold with a few minutes left in the game went uncalled. 5 straight power plays they got. Don't act like some sort of cosmic injustice involving the officiating is what did you in. If you want to be upset, be upset for not capitalizing on USA's biggest mistake when they put too many men on the ice.

The NHL's hands would be tied just like the IIHF's hands are tied.

The NCAA and CHL simply won't allow their players to play continuous overtime in the middle of their seasons.

Oh okay, so that makes him 100% Canadian, nice logic.

As far as a soccer player, yeah it does.

I mean, the US regularly starts multiple players who were born abroad and never played a game in the US until joining the team. Let alone they just called in Kekuta Manneh who moved to the US at 14 and plays for Vancouver.
