Keep living in the past, so you are telling me, no matter what the US does from now on, no matter how many times we keep winning, "Canada will always be number one, because we said so! Oh and we have Crosby and McDavid" :shakehead

No, but winning a few tournaments in a row might be a start.

No, I'm telling you if USA holds the Olympic, WJC and WC gold all at the same time I'll consider them the greatest hockey nation. One WJC gold doesn't do it for me, sorry.

Alphonso Davies. Look out for him. Going to be an undisputed star.

Cool. I'll look up his name and see what I can find on him. Thanks.

Oh, and Ben Shapiro is awesome. :)

EDIT: Wow, he's only 16, and has already played in MLS for the Whitecaps! That's amazing! This kid could really be a star.

When you beat us in a best on best give me a call. This isn't 1996

Lawson Crouse, Travis konecny, Mitch marner and some kid in edmonton named mcdavid all eligible to play in this one for canada. In 2010, we were without Tavares, stamkos, duchene, kane, myers. I can go on and on and every year the players we are without is astounding. It's a fun tournament to watch but if it actually reflected which country had the best junior players it probabley wouldn't even exist, because their would be decade long spans of one champion.

And a ****ing shootout to decide a championship....What the **** is the IIHF thinking? oh wait thats right..parity....from the people that brought you, "hey lets have a ****ing mens tournament to determine olympic rankings during the stanley cup playoffs" **** off

but congrats USA, you were a very valiant opponent.

Enough crying over split milk, gents.

USA was the better country in this tourney....good enough to beat us not once but twice in our own backyard.

Now be big boys about this, and congratulate 'em for the win.

****-measuring contests and "ya well we won these OTHER tourneys so u still suck lol" won't help at all, and it really makes us look like sore losers.

Lol every time a medal is handed out the threads always turn into a pissing match as to who the greatest hockey nation is.

With that being said, in 2015 Canada was the Olympic, WJC, WC gold medal holders so until another nation can do that, it's still Canada.

No doubt. Everybody understands that Canada is number one in this amazing game. But team US showed us pretty good play in this tournament and they deserved it. Do not be greedy :)

This again... sigh.

The torch was first passed when the US won the World Cup in 1996.

Do you realize the USA's talent pool is twice the size of what was in 96?
We are produce elite hockey players in Florida, Texas and ****ing Arizona. Your time in the sun is coming to an end and The USA will be the dominant power in hockey and nothing ya gonna do can stop it.

Congratulations to Team USA. They deserve full credit for a great win. I have no problems with the shootouts. If Canada had won- what would the other Canadian fans be saying about shootouts? Canada could not even score one goal.

Canada choked away two goal leads twice, and could not score in the OT and Shootout. Enough with the excuses. USA is on par with Canada at the World Junior hockey stage. They will probably even pass it in the years to come with the great talent that is coming up through the ranks and the US NTDP.

USA has beaten Canada 4 straight times (3 gold medal games and one semi-final game) when it mattered the most since 2004. They were the best team the whole tournament. Much respect to Team USA. I love Canada, but as a Canadian- even i get sick of this "Hockey is our Game", Bumper Stickers. Canada has one *** Gold Medal in Eight Years. They have laid an egg time in and time out the last eight years except in 2015. Absolutely embarrassing to proclaim yourself the best, and have one Gold in the last 8 years. TSN Propaganda is a joke.

There are other tournaments that happen, that Canada wins consistently, hence why that is said.

See the thread on the main boards, where it's been proven that he's better than McDavid.

You mean the thread where Leaf fans try to convince the rest of the hockey world that he's better because of shot metrics or loose puck retrievals or something?

Oh no absolutely, very proud of Team USA and they definitely deserved to win that one, very even game that could've gone either way.

As a Canadian I'm pretty disappointed with the officiating in the gold medal game. It was more than obvious Canada was getting all the calls. The refs were controlled by the crowd. I'm so sick of garbage officiating on all levels of hockey. The Americans deserved at least one call going their way in the 3rd and OT.

It's over now and the team that deserved the gold got it, but that was a joke.

Please see the numerous posts saying just that. Some of us just responding to people claiming hockey supremacy because of one tournament.

Why is it that some Canadians are suddenly needing to reaffirm themselves as the top power in the world? The lot of you have handled yourselves with the class and dignity that I have come to expect and others seem to think the pissing contest is somehow still on.

Other countries have had over 50 years to get their act together. Inevitably sometimes they're going to win instead

No disrespect intended to him (Seems a promising prospect) but he was born in Liberia
Doesn't really matter where he was born. He's going to play for Canada. On the Caps right now. Got regulae gametime as a 15 year old against men and looked really good. 16 now and should have another good year. Kid is a phenom and he already has the big dogs watching him.

Great game, both teams had their opportunities in regulation.

As soon as it goes to shootout the result is a little watered down for me (I'd feel the same if Canada won), but at the end of the day there has to be a winner and the US earned it.

Yeah that was the one I was thinking of as well. "Passes to the slot" was a category, but not "goals", somehow.

Are you kidding me? They tripped us on a breakaway in OT, no call. Or did you miss that?
