Hockey is America's game! The past is irrelevant now, the torch has been passed.

Within 2-3 years the best player in the world will be Auston Matthews, an American, the best defenseman will be Werenski, an American.

Winning gold at a world jr game means the future has forever been changed, huh. But it was a good game. I'm all for competition. It makes the sport more entertaining.

Kind of feel weird about a shootout in a championship game. Oh well.

Always hated it. I think for the gold medal game at least it deserves continues OT.

Yeah, same here. Either a mid-fielder or striker. Just at least give me someone to really cheer for, and give me an excuse to buy some Team Canada soccer jerseys with his name on the back, lol. With TFC's recent success going all the way to the finals, I think it should encourage more young men to participate and take it seriously. I hope so. I want to see a couple Canadian soccer stars in my life time. Here's hoping.

The best player we have had is Hargreaves I think and he didn't even want to stay Canadian

Lol every time a medal is handed out the threads always turn into a pissing match as to who the greatest hockey nation is.

With that being said, in 2015 Canada was the Olympic, WJC, WC gold medal holders so until another nation can do that, it's still Canada.

Does anyone know if NHL Network will replay this epic game? I am so pissed! I thought it was recording from start to finish and my DVR messed up. It recorded right up until the last few minutes of OT and I missed the entire shoot out. So ticked!

My guide isn't telling me either way if NHL Network is replaying.

They usually do. If so, it will probably be tomorrow afternoon. I know earlier today they replayed yesterdays games.

Great game and tournament Canada. I hope all the players bounce back, especially Hart and Myers.

I'm fine with it ending in a shootout. Those kids were COMPLETELY gassed after 80 minutes.

Alphonso Davies. Look out for him. Going to be an undisputed star.

Chabot finished with 42 minutes. That's nuts. What's the most ice time for a wjc skater.

You wonder why yet you partake in it. How logical, lol.

A few random points

- Chabot was Canada MVP
- Dubois was disappointing
- Arizona will regret picking Strome over Marner
- A game this important should never end in a shootout. Continue 5 vs 5 till you get a winner.

Thats about it for now

This again... sigh.

The torch was first passed when the US won the World Cup in 1996.

I'm not even asking for a McDavid level talent, I'd settle for a Kunitz level talent playing in the BPL

Haha even we Americans have only been able to get one elite level prospect after all these years. Dempsey is maybe Chris Kunitz level. Soccer is brutal. So much competition.

Keep living in the past, so you are telling me, no matter what the US does from now on, no matter how many times we keep winning, "Canada will always be number one, because we said so! Oh and we have Crosby and McDavid" :shakehead

Looking at the participation numbers for youth hockey shows a different picture. The sport is too expensive and the US has 300mil+ population advantage. Eventually I think they'll overtake us.
It's possible, but until hockey becomes more popular in the US like other major pro sports, it won't dominate nearly as much. We'll see, but for now I think it's cyclical.

That's the protocol whenever Canada loses .

Yeah, that really sucked. I believe he was even born and raised in Canada (I think in Alberta). But because his father was a dual British citizen, he was able to choose to play for England. Too bad. He could've really been a popular star in Canada, I think. I kinda felt ripped off or something when that happened. Just didn't feel right. When you're born and raised in a country, just seems right that you play for that country. Just like I don't mind when sons of Canadian hockey stars play for Team USA if they are born and raised there. I think it's the right thing to do. So yeah, I wasn't happy about his choice at all, and still a bit salty about it, to be honest, lol.

That kid in Dortmund, pulisic, is better than anything Canada has ever put on the field.

Congratulations to Team USA. They deserve full credit for a great win. I have no problems with the shootouts. If Canada had won- what would the other Canadian fans be saying about shootouts? Canada could not even score one goal.

Canada choked away two goal leads twice, and could not score in the OT and Shootout. Enough with the excuses. USA is on par with Canada at the World Junior hockey stage. They will probably even pass it in the years to come with the great talent that is coming up through the ranks and the US NTDP.

USA has beaten Canada 4 straight times (3 gold medal games and one semi-final game) when it mattered the most since 2004. They were the best team the whole tournament. Much respect to Team USA. I love Canada, but as a Canadian- even i get sick of this "Hockey is our Game", Bumper Stickers. Canada has one *** Gold Medal in Eight Years. They have laid an egg time in and time out the last eight years except in 2015. Absolutely embarrassing to proclaim yourself the best, and have one Gold in the last 8 years. TSN Propaganda is a joke.
