Well we'll still produce elite talent just less I suppose.

No we won't produce less, we'll produce more, just other countries will too. The gap might close a little bit, but Canada will always be #1, or at least for a very very long time.

LOL this USA team was clearly the best in this tournament. But the idea that it makes them the premier hockey power is laughable when Canada has all the senior level hardware

Exactly. Canada still dominates.

Agreed.

I think both American and Canadian fans alike mostly think it was a shame that this game had to end with a shootout, and our opinions would have been the same if Canada had won instead.

Yep win or lose shootouts are stupid in a team game, play until a team scores. The rule where the same skater can go over and over after the first skaters is also ridiculous.

I'd personally like to see us get a bit more competitive at soccer as well.

It's not until it takes Olympic gold from Canada, which is looking like it's going to be a near impossible feat with how well organized Canada is.

Yeah, seriously. Canada is still the dominant force in the game.

I hope the US can draw even at the men's level. If it does happen, we're still 20+ years away IMO.

We can play it close at the Olympics, but can't match Canada's depth, especially down the middle. Hopefully Matthews and Eichel are the beginning of a new trend.

absolutely amazing game. kudos to Canada for one hell of a fight. damn shame someone had to lose this epic battle. easily on par if not better than 2010..

so proud of these kids, I am still in shock with how well this team played. THEY NEVER LOST A SINGLE DAMN GAME!! Beating Canada twice!! True champs!!

Imagine that Canada could recognize how many different cultures within Canada want that? I've been saying forever that we've got such a diverse gene pool from all the top soccer countries that if we just put more effort in development and educating coaches we'd get much better. We compete at younger ages but as we get older there's no money in it for players so they leave early. TFC becoming good is pushing this along though. But this is a hockey forum ill stop talking about soccer lol.

Yeah, because that is a totally different avatar, they just had "Karma" in their name I am pretty sure, anyways sorry.

Okay no problem. And yeah, I meant it. Congrats to Team USA. They deserved it and had a great tournament, going undefeated. VERY good team this year, indeed. And I'm happy because Oilers prospect Caleb Jones is on Team USA (we have no one on Team Canada), so pretty pumped for him to have success like this, and hope he boosts his confidence and helps push his game to be even better and turn into a great pro. :)

Let's see if you will be saying that the next Olympics.

If there is Olympic participation, they're still the heavy favorites for the foreseeable future.

A WJC victory doesn't change a thing, as nice as it is.

The US needs to produce more high-end centers in the mold of Toews, Bergeron, Tavares, etc. (We'll work on the Crosby thing later ).

Yah haha this conversation is definitely not for the hockey forum. But Canada in soccer is woeful.

As for the game, I really liked the refs not calling every ticky tack call.

Now you know how we feel in literally every other competition.

Honestly I kind of wish USA basketball had at least some rivals the way Canada does in hockey. We had Spain for a bit but they seem to have been unable to replace their gold generation. It makes games more interesting.

I don't know if the US is 20 years away. Sure seems like they're making fast gains now.

Such an incredible achievement to beat Russia, and come up with two victories against Canada, in Canada!
These kids have something to be proud of forever. Beat the best head to head. What a game both both groups of kids!!

Congrats to team USA it was a good game could of went either way, these past 2 days have been good hockey to watch:)

Lol 1 win doesn't make you the top hockey power. Especially considering in a U20 not during NHL season, it wouldn't even be worth watching McDavid and other Canadian U20 NHLers clean up.

Oh cool does the 4th top goal scorer in the NHL get to play for US too?

Who won the WJC when there was a lockout last time? Hmm.
