It's cyclical. Canada has had a great run with the Crosby, Getzlaf, Perry, Carter/Richards, Toews, Weber core from 2005 to now, but nothing lasts forever, eventually another nation will get their turn.
I'm confused. USA has always been a hockey power. Maybe I am missing something.
Looking at the participation numbers for youth hockey shows a different picture. The sport is too expensive and the US has 300mil+ population advantage. Eventually I think they'll overtake us.

Did anyone have an issue with the shootout before this game?

You are correct, I am just saying it is back, as in it is the hockey power in the world now.

Congrats to the US.
They should have just kept the 4 on 4 format for OT. That game definitely would have been decided in 20 minutes.
I was saying to myself during OT I was gonna be disappointed if this went to a shootout no matter who won.
