It's cyclical. Canada has had a great run with the Crosby, Getzlaf, Perry, Carter/Richards, Toews, Weber core from 2005 to now, but nothing lasts forever, eventually another nation will get their turn.

Looking at the participation numbers for youth hockey shows a different picture. The sport is too expensive and the US has 300mil+ population advantage. Eventually I think they'll overtake us.

Congrats to the USA, deserved the win. Proud of my main man Colin White for scoring a massive goal to tie the game up.

Jesus at Terry's voice as the one who beat us, oh well, onto the next year without the Strome's forced onto the top line

Hopefully the NHL goes back to the Olympics next year.

1 more easy Gold medal for Canada and then who knows what's next.

We've been hearing this for years now.

Been hearing that my whole life. I'll believe it when I see it.

American fans didn't deserve the taste of victory after doubting Parsons even though he's absolutely $$$ when it matters most. He went absolute beast mode for the last half of the 3rd and OT.

Amazing game, though. Just wish we could've continued on with OT. Parsons was amazing. Couldn't have asked for more from Flames prospects this tournament.

Parsons and Dube were amazing. Kylington was fantastic. Fox and Karnaukhov were both great.

Troy Terry is USA Hockey legend, his shootout performance the past two nights will be one for the record books

They should have just kept the 4 on 4 format for OT. That game definitely would have been decided in 20 minutes.

I was saying to myself during OT I was gonna be disappointed if this went to a shootout no matter who won.

You are correct, I am just saying it is back, as in it is the hockey power in the world now.

Calm down. Hopefully this is hyperbole.

3 of 4 Olympics Golds, 5 of 6 best-on-best Golds (if both WCs count).

It's not until it takes Olympic gold from Canada, which is looking like it's going to be a near impossible feat with how well organized Canada is.

Absolutely unreal game despite it having to end in a shootout. The future of USA Hockey is bright. Between their players on Team North America at the WCH and their performance in this tournament, they have shown how far their development has come over the years. Should be fun to see how their future teams matchup against Canada in the Olympics/WC/WCH.

Lol 1 win doesn't make you the top hockey power. Especially considering in a U20 not during NHL season, it wouldn't even be worth watching McDavid and other Canadian U20 NHLers clean up.

Well congrats USA, it was a tremendous game back and forth for the entire 80 minutes. If I was Dubois, I probably couldn't sleep for a year.

Too bad such a great game was ruined by the idiocy of a shootout.

the one redeeming quality of the "world cup" is that it allows no such trash to taint the result.

Shootout sucks but dunno why they can't just go endless OT for a gold medal game
