I do not feel one bit bad for Roy .He was drafted by Cape Breton 1st overall in Quebec Major Junior Draft and would not report cause they are an English area citing school concerns.Imagine if Crosby said that about Rimouski.ITS CALLED KARMA.He has no fans in that part of Canada I bet

Your, or the grudge of others have nothing at all to do with his shootout attempt and how these moments can be difficult for athletes.

Where is that Canadian guy who was mocking us swedes and writing "Five-hole back to Stockholm lmao" Bet he feels like a king now. oh the irony.

On to the 2018 WJC :yo:

You can't exactly use this as definitive evidence.

For example, last year Ekblad and McDavid were missing. This year: McDavid, Marner, Konecny, et al. Seriously, imagine McDavid here?

Nonetheless, the USA has done an excellent job in developing talent. Regarding the Olympics, I'm not so sure. For the Olympics teams have a 10-15 year pool of players to pick from. I'll still take our very best when we have a 10-15 year pool of players.

That's another discussion though, the USA should enjoy their victory and the attention should be on the American kids who won Gold.

I looked it up and among eligible players for the tournament. The point total is

USA: 94
Canada: 106

Canada has six players to the US's four. If you take Canada's top four its USA 94 to Canada 93

The only reason I bring this up is that it might be the first time ever that US and Canadians omissions are relatively equal.

Eh most Canadians will continue to be arrogant until they're beaten best on best.

Which should happen soon. Matthews, Eichel will be too much.

So our choke job completed ? Defence meltdown twice, tons of chance of granted PP.
Congrats USA.

Karma is a *****.

I can't wait to read this tournament means nothing and our best players are still in NHL and we are still the best years after years.

Wow....slept pretty well last night. Congrats to both teams for putting on a classic show. Really proud of this version of Team USA.

I agree that we're not close to "even" in producing hockey players with Canada yet. Like the poster said, if you pull from a 10 year pool, we're not thee. But the only way to get there is to string together birthyears that are even. This one is one of those.

Really happy today.

Even numbered birth years? Interesting. What could drive that pattern? Elections?

Congratulations to Team USA. They deserve full credit for a great win. I have no problems with the shootouts. If Canada had won- what would the other Canadian fans be saying about shootouts? Canada could not even score one goal.

Canada choked away two goal leads twice, and could not score in the OT and Shootout. Enough with the excuses. USA is on par with Canada at the World Junior hockey stage. They will probably even pass it in the years to come with the great talent that is coming up through the ranks and the US NTDP.

USA has beaten Canada 4 straight times (3 gold medal games and one semi-final game) when it mattered the most since 2004. They were the best team the whole tournament. Much respect to Team USA. I love Canada, but as a Canadian- even i get sick of this "Hockey is our Game", Bumper Stickers. Canada has one *** Gold Medal in Eight Years. They have laid an egg time in and time out the last eight years except in 2015. Absolutely embarrassing to proclaim yourself the best, and have one Gold in the last 8 years. TSN Propaganda is a joke.

Like i stated above earlier in this thread- One Gold Medal in 8 years does not translate into "We are the Best, and it is our Game". Starting Next Year- i hope to never see these Bumper Sticker Slogans again. Enough with the Canadian excuses. The US fully deserved this victory.
Another Canadian World Junior Choke Job completed- more PP's granted to Team Canada, had a two goal lead in the 3rd period, and the Goaltending and Defence could not hold it.

Outside of 2015, Canada's results has been underwhelming on the World Junior stage the last 8 years. Canadians need to stop living in the past- this is not 10 years ago or 20 years ago. Be realistic, and enough with the excuses. We are simply not that great like how the Media here pretends we are. Sad to see Canadians buy the Propaganda. Congrats to team USA and their amazing hockey program. The better team won. Hockey Canada maybe needs to be less arrogant, and look at USA Hockey and their development program.

Congrats to team USA. They could have caved when down 2 twice but didn't. Not sure why some are saying the WJC means nothing. The medal round was amazing and more entertaining than anything I've seen in the NHL this year. Game came down to a few fortunate/unfortunate bounces IMO. I heard for a few weeks before this tournament how Canada had a weak squad and would be lucky to make the medal round. Can't be too dissapointed with the results keeping that in mind. Anyways, the sun still came up, it's still -14, I still feel we live in the greatest country on earth and we'll be back next year! Kudos murica

People looking to be offended by TSN's Canadian team love will find what they want. They were pretty even-handed about the teams this tourney but they do get pumped up for the home team. What's the big deal? And Canada had a nice run of success at the wjc staring in 2008 or 2009, but didn't have much success for a hockey juggernaut leading up to that. I don't think anyone's under any delusions here in the great white north.

Good job by USA, deserved winners for coming back twice and killing off the penalties. Canada also deserved the loss for only playing well in bursts after giving up multiple goals and never learning its lesson about getting the puck out quickly. McAvoy easily the best player in games against Canada. It was a good game overall, very unfortunate about the shootout.

USA!

That was no question one of the greatest games I have ever seen. Nothing but respect for our Neighbor to the North. Amazing battle.

Shootouts in Medal Games are GARBAGE! They need to go!

Boy they sure did waste no time taking away the World Juniors forum here and moving all the topics to International Tournaments.

Even the Draft or Stanley Cup Playoff boards last a few days past the final event.

Don't get me wrong, as I loved the result, but...

Because this is just a bunch of kids playing, not the Olympics. Get it over with so everyone can go home and go to bed. We don't need to have a bunch of teenagers who aren't getting paid for this destroying their bodies to play 6 overtimes.

The ideal solution though would be to just declare the game a tie and award the gold medal to both teams. This happens in some Olympic sports.

People have gone crazy with the emotional investment in a friggin kids tournament. Half these players will never be heard from again.

I totally agee with this statement. Had the shootout ended in no goals scored. I was hoping the two coaches would come to center ice and call it DONE! These kids had given their all...no need to get injured at this point.

It's because Canada lost.

LOL. I thought the same thing.

Oh please. No chance either side wanted a tie and if you polled the coaches and players at the end of regulation and asked if they'd rather keep playing real hockey until someone wins or go to a shootout, I'd bet the former would win in a landslide.

As great a game as that was, it would have been spectacular to have McDavid, Marner, Matthews and Eichel in that game.
