Congrats to the Team USA kids!

Shootouts are part of the game, no complaints from me.
I doubt many people complained about the shootout after that Toews semifinal game years back.

You and the rest of your country wouldn't be saying that if you had won. Guaranteed.

I've always hated shootouts in elimination games, regardless of outcome.

I hated it in 2007 when Toews beat the US and I hated it in 2009 when Eberle's goal vs Russia ended up with the same silliness.

Any OT result is legit, but a shootout isn't a real win or loss.

Top 3 reasons why Canada lost:
3). Dylon Strome sucks. He is overrated and he is not a leader. I don't know how a knowledgable hockey coach could have kept him on the power play. He never should have been captain. You pick dressing room leaders as captain.
2). The team wasn't physical enough. This team was too small. When playing in Canada we should pick more players that are bigger and more physical because of the smaller ice. This type of team (speed) is better suited for Europe ice.
1). Our goaltending just isn't good enough. I give Hart credit. He played hard and he did a great job against Sweden. But we gave home 2 goal leads twice and he just couldn't make that phenomenal save to hold the lead. Parsons did and that's the biggest difference in my opinion.

Congrats to the US!!! You deserve it.

They were tied through 80 minutes and then went to a skills competition where they lost 1-0 after 5 shooters. They outshot USA 50-36. These were two evenly matched teams, could've settled it with a coin flip honestly. I agree that Strome wasn't good enough. I disagree on the last two points. Maybe if you're looking for issues with this team in the tournament as a whole maybe, but I thought their style of play was completely fine today. Their team speed was essential in keeping up with USA, who always play fast, and they had guys Stephens and the Quebec line playing quite a physical game. As for Hart, I don't blame him today, not sure which goals you saw as weak but I thought USA earned all of them. Again, these teams played to a draw, and a shootout decided it. Canada played well.

Lol every time a medal is handed out the threads always turn into a pissing match as to who the greatest hockey nation is.

With that being said, in 2015 Canada was the Olympic, WJC, WC gold medal holders so until another nation can do that, it's still Canada.

Canada was on the powerplay all nite and still lost.lol Give USA credit. They were better team in this tourney.

Anyway, now that all that is over I just wanna say that I love Canada.

Maybe not the Canadian National Team, but what happens on the ice stays on the ice.

Canada is more than an ally, Canada is family.

Love you, bro :)

When did I not give USA credit? Must of missed the multiple times in this thread when I gave them credit. All I'm saying is this doesn't make them #1 hockey nation in the world that's all.

It does at the WJHL level. At pro level its Canada .But to be honest the Olympics were always meant for amateurs .Somewhere money took over..

It means they're the current champs, the gold gets bounced around too much to really say what nation if the best junior nation.

Well in pretty well every Olympic sport you have the best athletes competing. You don't see the top skiers or speed skaters sit out as the youngsters compete. I'm fine with the best players going.

Why is it that some Canadians are suddenly needing to reaffirm themselves as the top power in the world? The lot of you have handled yourselves with the class and dignity that I have come to expect and others seem to think the pissing contest is somehow still on.

Other countries have had over 50 years to get their act together. Inevitably sometimes they're going to win instead

Don't let a few loud opinions drown out the vast majority of us paying respect to the USA on a well earned victory.

Congrats again to the USA, what a hockey game.

I thought the US was the better team overall - but by a small margin. The officiating wasn't bad but it did favor the Canadians a bit. No conspiracy or intent, they just missed a couple things that should have been called. Canada's first goal should have never happened and I'm not sure how the ref missed that grab behind the Canadian net. Then they won in the shootout which isn't really hockey, but it's how the winner is determined - and the USA won. Period.

W.r.t. Hart... I didn't really like the first goal. He wasn't screened and it was a simple wrister from the hash... I didn't like his positioning on the third goal. And I thought the 4th goal wasn't bad, but it was stoppable. The only goal I feel wasn't his fault was the deflection on the 2nd. Another issue I had with him (though not his fault) was he looked too small in his net. All I know is this... I was Squimish every time the USA shot the puck... And it wasn't just this game... I felt the same way in his earlier games. Like I said I think he did well... But he just wasn't good enough... Parsons made the big saves. How many phenomenal saves did Hart make in this game? I can't think of one really big outstanding save.
