Yeah, but apparently the info given to media (and the teams?) say best of 3 for PO round too, but it certainly seems like it has been changed but someone missed to update the info to media.

Considering even the russian coach looked confused i'd say a misstake has been made. It's IIHF:s responsibility to update the rules. It should be the official rules on their website that counts no matter what some article says.

I also thought it is three shots in the shootout. But doesn't this really matter? OK so Russia would win after three shots. But outcome would be same, game decided in SO lottery. After all this is U20 tournament where kids show how they play. I hope the main wins for these kids in their future. At least they played with heart.

Who is "they"? Everyone seemed confused to me.

I have accepted the loss. My point simply is that IIHF's rules do not appear to be updated. Maybe they were updated in as far as what was given to coaches.

Russia had many opportunities to win it in the shootout but Samsonov couldn't make that one big save but he was amazing in this game and he's one of the reason that Russia had a chance to win this game.

No they are not but presumably the main broadcaster of the tournament would make a point to ask the authority figure on the matter about the format changes before they'd make a point to explain these new format changes 5 or 6 times on TV.

Moreso than some website maker which 90% of his job is to copy paste the exact same things from the previous years website to this website.
