Shootouts used to be five rounds when introduced back in the 1990s but then switched to three rounds in 2007, including elimination games.

Apparently they switched to five this year.

They played well. Better than I would have expected a week ago. Just came down to luck.

Still don't understand why the russian didn't just keep riding Guryanov . He had it going . US went back to back with the guy who scored and he won he game.

Still, if you make a change like that you should be very clear about it and tell the coaches before the SO starts (or preferably even before the tournament starts) what the rules are. Anyway, great game. Terry was absolutely clutch in that shootout. USA was the better team as a whole IMO and whoever wins the other semi it's guaranteed to be a very good final.

I thought we played pretty good had some decent chances, I really have no complaints about the game

from what it looks like, it has been approved but it is not in the rule book people have access to (the one available on the website, and the one that was given to pbp guys on some network)
