NHL Network announcers noted it would be 5 rounds of shootout even before OT ended. So the information was out there. Do we seriously think the refs and IIHF officials in attendance somehow screwed that up?

They also changed who would go first for the extra rounds. Someone asked about that. That's why USA went last for the winner.

It was anoounced clearly as a five round shootout before it started on the U.S. TV broadcast.

Weird, because there seemed to be a lot of confusion on the ice and especially the russians seemed to have no idea about it. If they changed their rulebook, not communicating it clearly is really bad. Definitely looked like it affected the russians.

Guys, what's more likely:
1. The rule was changed and they didn't update a stupid website almost nobody goes to.
