Lindgren disrupted that just enough for the Swiss guy to fan on it.

Man. We've had the better chances now. So annoying. Stupid penalties and the refs killed us.

Well this is obviously reffed one way.

I don't buy the "just move on" from obvious incompetence by the officials, if I were to do such a blatantly bad job my employer would find someone who could do the job properly. In the hockey world though, we're told to shut up and move on.

clearly the best period the Swiss have played so far this year. they go the pace of the USA, impressive. the Americans are stronger and obviously more skilled. Result is abit harsh towards the Swiss. But it doesn't seem they let them self distract from the result (yet).

And while Burren had a rough 1st, Weber had a lot of good plays.

For those who have watched a lot of Swiss games, how's Thurkauf been? Potential NHL upside?

3rd liner potential I think, very hard worker, good drive to the net, also a good skater and very solid skills with the stick.

Edit: I also think, the problem with Weber/Burren is mainly Burren. Stadler would be the better solution there.

Burren has been terrible all tournament long. Weber was also bad. As always. Good with the puck, terrible without.

Yeah. Probably 3rd line...or higher on a shutdown line as he thinks the game well. Not gonna put up lots of points but he has a decent shot and could score a few goals.
Burren is worse than Weber but Weber also isn't good enough defensively.

Hard to fathom how both refs missed that flagrant interference on 18 White...basically gifted Yanks with a goal, cause their pp would be over at that pt...plus faceoff woulda been in Yank zone...

Having said that, still seemed like a longshot that Swiss could keep up with frenetic pace team USA's plays at...in spurts yes...but not for long...

I don't see it so harsh. Burren made a solid job IMO. Weber has surprised me in a good way. Didn't want him on the team initally, but even if he is physically overmatched, he plays his heart out, and has a good gap control. we obviously don't agree.

Well, I'm no expert but we probably don't have better ones than Weber. Sad but probably how it is. As Stadler has a rough tournament (injured?) there's just no option. I get that he's very young but Wohlwend should have leaned on Gross a bit more. He's been very good. Pleasant surprise. Huge talent. My clear number 3 on defense so far behind Siegenthaler and Karrer.

Well...the game against Sweden was very close...and these Amerks aren't better than the Swedes. Probably have a bit more depth but they don't have an Eriksson Ek or Nylander.

USA read breakouts along the wall really well...Swiss need more mid ice breakouts in the "pocket" to get going. Not sure they have the poise the execute. The USA team has terrific pace and make solid reads - it's a fine junior team.

Weber already with 2 stupid giveaways in the 2nd, he wants to prove us wrong. :)

His biggest problem is his size of course, I think he does it pretty well. He isn't an NHL-prospect and probably won't ever play on the national team, but he may have a solid career in the NLA, he's a good player for that league.

Didn't see the first period, but the Swiss look good. Fun high paced junior game, unfortunate that the refs have had such a hand in the game.

Button likes going on long rants about things, especially criticizing others peoples mistakes. First the ref's mistake, now Thurkauf.

We get it, you can't do that, no need to go on and on and on, and get so vocally upset about it.

Did the refs just call a penalty because of the US whining?
Or have I missed something?
