Closer game than expected in my opinion but USA will find a way. Have to wonder who will be their starter after Parsons and Woll have both been fine.

23.30 CET.

I hope the Swiss will pull the upset ... .

Counting on a good performance of VanPotelbherg.

4-2 Swiss, Hischier for the EN.

hop Schwiz

Woll looked really calm/ rock solid in goal vs Canada, but either way don't think it will matter much. An upset is far from impossible, stranger things have happened, STILL Swiss seem over matched. Yanks likely remove all suspense, by scoring early and often...

Sadly, I think it'll be a blowout. Really hope it'll be a fight but the Swiss best players all averaged 25mins a night and if Americans score early it could get bitter. Something like 7-1 USA

The Swiss looked pretty tired against Finland. Hopefully the day off will have them rejuvenated. This team is always game, so it wouldn't surprise me if this is closer than people think, but I'm still calling for the US to take this one.

If the USA have at least 3 lines that can score they will win. Swiss team lack depth, but have a great first line, but they cant play the whole game.

I also thought the Swiss were a one line team... until the last game where Zehnder scored a pair and Miranda had a goal and an assist. Looked like some real depth on that night, but then again they were playing Denmark, not a powerhouse USA team.

If the Swiss can keep it even through 20 minutes, we might have a game.
They definitely need the first goal though.

Yep, wanted to write something similar. And it's only been one game, the best 3 forwards played as one line. (Riat, Hischier, Thürkauf) I hope they try a Miranda- Zehnder combo ( with one of Eggenberger or In-Albon as a complementary). That could be the best chance to gain secondary scoring. Stadler played more against Finland, and was one of the better Ds. They need him at the top of his game, he's still their 3rd best D on paper. I wonder if he was fighting an injury through the Round Robin.

Zehnder isn't bad. I believe he was injured or something. Maybe that's why it took him a while to heat up. Has been okayish though in the first games. Anyway, we definitely have more than one forward line. Thürkauf, Riat, Hischier and In Albon are all excellent. Miranda is quite a wildcard but has been great for most of the tournament. I would have mentioned Diem as well but he's been a major disappointment. But with Zehnder we still got 2 decent forward lines. Something like Miranda, Thürkauf, Riat and In Albon, Hischier, Zehnder would be great.

Defense is the real problem. Siegenthaler and Karrer are great and Gross has been a nice surprise. Rest is far from being good enough. Weber is a great skater and passer but is too weak against the puck. All others aren't good at all.

The only advantage we have is our Goalie. If fatigue isn't a problem then van Pottelberghe could be able to hold us in this one for a while.

Could start Parsons, but I'd ride Woll right now. I think either way Woll should get the start in the Semi's. The Swiss goalie is going to have to play an incredible game. There will be stretches of puck possession for the US in the Swiss D zone, I'm expecting north of 40 shots. The US imo has worked out their kinks of D zone slppiness and horrible turnovers at our offensive blue line that gave Latvia those breakaways and some slopiness against the Slovaks. U.S. is just too good and quick in all zones. This will be like the QF game last year against the Czechs. I'm thinking 6-1.

If van Pottelberghe and Karrer/Siegenthaler have something left in their tanks then it could be close. Will be an ugly one otherwise :help:

Just a pitty we never had Ray Ferraro so far. Gotta win another one to get there
