Devils have to steal 1 of the next three games, and hopefully with ilya back, fate is on hands. Im also assuming pitt and montreal, which we both play well will sit back for the playoffs

As for the Rangers, Toronto has to sweep them - they don't, start praying


Islanders it would be nice for philly and Boston to beat them, their future depends on the later of their schedule


Winnipeg cannot afford to loose any of 1 of the next 3 games, BUF, FLA or TB

To answer the question, what happens if we tie? First tiebreaker is ROW (Regulation/OT Wins). So in essence, we'll most likely lose the tiebreaker, so we need to pass teams outright.

so the only team we could win a tie breaker on is the rangers if we beat them twice, the isles and jets were out

We have three fewer ROW wins than the Rangers and are two points back. At this point of the season if we even so much as tied them in ROW overwhelming odds are we'd pass them on total points by then anyway.

The Rangers and Isles have 16 ROW, Winnipeg has 18, Washington 17, Ottawa 15, and we have 13. Even Philly has 16 ROW (obviously if they tie us they would have more ROW).

The only team on that list we could conceivably win a tiebreaker against is Ottawa, but we'd have to outright beat them on ROW since we can't beat them in head-to-head. Making up three or more ROW's against anyone else with under ten games left means you're passing the team in total points anyway.

Everything else besides Ottawa is an automatic -1 at this point (meaning being two points back of the Rangers/Isles is actually three).

it's hard to make a "magic number" because we need help. if rangers win tonight, if they lose, if they lost in overtime, our scenario changes. there's really no set way for us to make the playoffs. there's millions of ways.
