Not my cup of tea, but happy that he’s doing well enough that the doctors have given the okay.

He’ll bring some flavor to the Centennial and appreciate some of the historical significance of the things happening to honor the tradition.

I’d be ready to move on from both him and Brickley at any point and give the broadcast a shot in the arm.

I have no problem with Brickley. Though Jack does drag him into his schtick occasionally.

I'm glad to hear this, if nothing else he is entertaining, even if it is cringe worthy at times.

All parties are on board

Jack has seen specialists and has been declared good to go.
excellent news

Excited to hear him lose his mind when Lucic does stuff this season

Dave Shea waves
I'll take Dave over Jack, Jack's an F'n moron. Dave Shea would never lower himself to insult a guy for being fat, on the air. Jack does not think before he speaks.

My wife chuckles every time, Jack says something dumb, corny, or offensive, and I respond by yelling at the TV for him to "shut the F up".:sarcasm:

I loathe Jack's antics, but Dave Shea might be the worst sports broadcaster in history. He knew nothing about hockey when he got the job, and he amazingly got stupider about the game as the years went on.

Dave Shea sucked, I find Jack so desperate to be witty, failing badly. He's probably the nicest guy in the world, but when the rest of the league thinks you're one of the worst, well where there's smoke there is fire. He so bad, I can't even call him "our idiot".
Bob Wilson, now there was an announcer.

Lil bit of related trivia: Jim Gordon used to do the Rangers (TV) games back in the 70’s. he was so boring to listen to, but I didn’t care for the color guy either, think it was Bill Chadwick, though he was well respected amongst his brethren

for a hockey player the guy was fat. It was in jest.

Prefer Dave Shea?
Yikes

I can confirm that Jack is one of the nicest people you'll meet who works in the public eye. Second time I met him, he remembered my name and asked me questions related to our first conversation which i was flattered he remembered. I'll always be an Edwards fan.

I don't prefer Dave, I just think Jack is a poor broadcaster. Never liked him or his shtick.
The game didn't pass him by, it's more like the world did. He's the guy that tells the worst of the worst dad jokes.
Bob Wilson and even Fred Cusick are the gold standards with me(and Doc Emerick). Shea was a "Ted Baxter"(showing my age), a voice, nothing more. Plenty of those in every sport.
Jack is the guy at the end of the bar, that everyone else rolls their eyes at.

I'm done, it's all preference anyways, not a personal attack on him as a human.

Pat Falloon begs to differ. Dustin Byfuglien(another large man) probably would have beat the F out of him.

Jack's past his best and I think that was the case before or regardless of whatever exact medical condition he has. But that's obviously made things worse and he was clearly struggling last season to the point where it sometimes became tough to watch/listen to. However if he's now receiving some effective treatment then besides that being great for him personally I do think he's got a little gas left in the tank. As others here have said, having a well-established voice calling the centennial season is fitting.

A change feels needed sooner rather than later but for this year at least I've no problem with Jack (and Brick) being back. Hope they have a good season in the booth.

Yeah, let Jack finish up this century of Bruins history and bring in a new voice to start a new one.
