Hey Guys,

Refresh my memory on some unsung heroes from years past, guys that nobody had heard of who stood on their head in this tournament. Jaroslav Janus comes to mind but I know this tends to be an annual occurrence and there are even better examples that I'm drawing blanks on for some reason. And go ...

Manny Legace? Al Montoya maybe? Conz?

Not sure if they qualify as guys no one had heard of, but I hadn't heard of them, for what that's worth.

For non goalies, maybe Mark Stone?

Igor Karpenko was a little Ukrainian goalie that stood on his head in 1995. He became a fan favorite, winning over the Winnipeg crowd and his performance even led to him getting drafted by Anaheim.

I think Sebastian Stefaniszin had a real good tournament for German in 2006/07 which probably was a big reason why he was drafted by the Ducks in '07.
Now he is a backup in the DEL.

Pauli Jaks. Swiss goalie who was named goalie of the tournament in 1991 and led to being drafted later that year by the Kings.

Benjamin Conz is one of the guys I was thinking of. Keep them coming, real under the radar types.

I still can't believe he wasn't drafted after his showing in the '10 against Russia and '11 against the U.S. (even though the u.s. won that it could have ended worse than 2-1) Yeah he's small for a goalie but so was Arturs Irbe (I think he was like 5'9 or so when drafted. Had pretty good career in the end)

I'm guessing being snubbed by the NHL kinda killed his confidence afterwards. Can't find # of a win loss record but his GAA and SV% isn't all that well

I looked at his stats and his win-loss record for the past few seasons in NLA was (Playoffs in parenthesis):

2011/12: 26-24 (2-3)
2012/13: 33-15 (10-8)
2013/14: 27-19 (6-4)
2014/15: 8-13
