I dont get it. Coming from a position within the Rangers system it doesnt seem like he built many loyalties or friendships. He has pretty much cleaned out most of his co-workers. I wonder what his relationship was with his co workers.
Is he that ruthless or just doing as he is told.. I wonder what Gorton and JD think now about bringing Drury on board. Didnt they also refuse another team permission for him to interview for a GM job?

1. They granted teams permission to talk to Drury
2. What Gorton and JD think is irrelevant
3. New management putting their own people in place is normal

I'll never forget Dru's face when he was all alone in the box his first night as Chief of the rangers. He didn't see this coming, he looked deeply concerned and overwhelmed. The vibe was no bueno.

*f*** James Dolan and his shitty band.

Who has he cleaned out? Bobrov? Clark's role changed when Gorton was still in charge, Leetch left on his own, and Quinn wasn't liked by Dolan and was likely a goner no matter what. I don't understand what you don't understand...guys come in and want to bring in their own guys. And Drury hasn't even really done that with the exception of Bobrov.

They denied Florida permission to speak to him years ago. Subsequently, he had been granted permission to talk to other teams.

It's better this way. Many people have a hard time having a peer(ish) colleague all of a sudden become your boss.

Now if you see Jerry Dineen get fired, you know its maybe a problem. That guy is a coackaroch. You all think Sather or Benny is pulling the strings but I'd have my eye on him.

I hope the McDonald family lends the badge again...
I just hit the #1OA on tankathon. If we get it I hope they trade down.

I heard he and Fox are flipping a puck to see if Fox gets to keep #23.

New management hires their own staff, more at 11.
I hear you but what makes this a little weird is he was a large part of old staff. With apparently few allegiances.

Drury was one of the guys running the organization. Was he part of the problem or is he part of the solution.
Apparently he did not have much faith in his co workers. He did work closely with the Hartford staff and there seems to be some stability there.

He also canned the entire coaching staff except Allaire. I wasnt a Quinn fan but liked Martin, and Oliver. With the names you mentioned and these, that is a pretty big shakeup.

I totally agree about bringing in your own guys but geez you would think if he had any faith in these guys he would find a place in the organization for them.

He understandably didnt want to stake his reputation on people he didnt hire. Anything further than that is overthinking. Its not like hes new to the inner workings of the organization, hes been around the team as a player, executive (and coach lol) for 15 years

I'm blaming Drury for not winning the lottery if he loses tonight. Last regine would never allow that to happen.
If we dont win it, Im not going to let it ruin my weekend. We already moved up to at least 15 because of Coyotes forfeit.

Personally i think he's targeted the proper areas of concern in the org. The next step for me would be for him to focus more on the WHL and OHL than european players, all things being equal, just for the sheer fact that it usually takes an extra year or two for them to adjust to the nhl game. Drafting some centers would be nice as well, i love how many d prospects we have but we really needed to address the center position since about 2 years.

Chris “not gonna let it ruin my weekend” Drury has the right mindset for an executive - just like how Hank could brush off the bad goal and be perfect.

Drury is gonna do a great job, no worries, he still owes us for his contract when he played here lol

But not as well as Blackburn, according to the caricature.

It's actually odd when new GMs (that replaced fired ones) don't hire their own staff or coach.

It's not like JD and Gorts retired or left on their own accord. GM and Pres are head of a staff, if you don't agree with their vision then you replace the whole staff.
