The point of this thread is to see your Countries Ultimate Hockey Team based on international play. In this thread when you make your team you can't include Maurice Richard, Gordie Howe, etc. because they have never represented their country in international play. Also if the player never excelled in international competition he can't be included.

Here's their Team Canada plus quotes they had on each:

Now you get it if you didn't before. Your team also has to only have the following tournaments or competition considered: 1972 Summit Series, 1976 Canada Cup, 1981 Canada Cup, 1984 Canada Cup, 1987 Canada Cup, 1991 Canada Cup, 1996 World Cup, 1998 Olympics, and 2002 Olympics.

Howe played for Canada in the WHA-Soviet summit series in 1974, and wound up with seven points in seven games. Not bad for a 46-year-old against the top Soviet players.

I believe I said only the following events: 1972 Summit Series, 1976 Canada Cup, 1981 Canada Cup, 1984 Canada Cup, 1987 Canada Cup, 1991 Canada Cup, 1996 World Cup, 1998 Olympics, and 2002 Olympics.

No, you're right, he didn't. But neither did Gaborik.

OTOH, considering how Slovakia was robbed at the Olympics, I guess it's just fair to include those players anyway.

Yeah, but you said he hadn't played for Canada at all. The 74 series should probably be in there, anyhow, it was against the regular Soviet national team, just like 72, and it was a Canadian team, not a "league" team like the NHL teams in the 1978(79?) Challenge Cup and Rendez-Vous 87.

you stole this team from the TSN magazine......and i dont like the team that they picked.

I did say that didn't I? My bad.

BTW, I'm only going with the events the TSN Magazine went with. They never included the 74 Summit Series.

Bobby Clarke would have to make the team. One of the best frowards in 1972 and he captained the 1976 team.
