Do they not medically clear people for mental reasons? I can't imagine that Barber was cleared medically earlier/yesterday and then wasn't cleared to fight today after starting to head toward the octagon... Weird situation.

I got home and was like, "Oh, the main event is about to start. Sure, why not?" Syke

What the hell happened, though? Blanchfield said "seizure" but also "unprofessional". Can't be both. Then you have DC blasting her every time he opened his mouth and Sanko defending her every time she opened her mouth.

Maycee missed weight and talked shit

I'm going to guess there's a bit of a mental health component or at least a perceived mental health component. Missing weight and then backing out at the last minute in consecutive days is a bad look. If you tell the doc before your walkout "I think I'm having a seizure" then the fight is off. I almost hope it's a mental health issue because the alternative is that she's actually having seizures, and that's terrifying.

Not making weight because you got bazoomba enhancements, tough break

Erin is being harsh in the post fight presser but she’s 100% correct. Maycee had 5 months to make weight. Instead she got implants, talked shit, missed weight, then pulled out. That’s a half year of Erin’s career down the drain. Maycee is an unprofessional mess.

Kind of par for the course for the UFC right now. Crap card and the main event collapsed in real time. It's crazy how the ship seems to be completely rudderless at a time where they are negotiating a new media rights deal

Blanchfield said they knew about this fight since January that she could have been 50lbs up and made weight and I do remember Barber being in the hospital at some point last year for a good amount of time so Sanko would be correct with the health issues... So maybe the "unprofessional" part of it is knowing your body/health history and cutting so much water weight the week of the fight that you have a seizure? Just reading between the lines could be wrong.

That's fair. I thought she was talking about the pulling out at the last second part, but it could've been the missing weight part.

I think it was probably a lot of pent up frustration from all their interactions. Blanchfield did agree to be a replacement fight to fight Barber a few years ago and Barber pulled out a few weeks before the fight. Then this time around Barber misses weight, Blanchfield agrees to still fight her, then Barber ends up not being able to fight (medical or otherwise).

Media asked if she would agree to fight Barber again and that's when Blanchfield said no and called her unprofessional. But realistically, why would Blanchfield do business with someone who has screwed her 3 separate times, at least one or two of those had to be within her control.

The part I don't get is if she has ongoing health problems (which she pulled out the last fight and main event she was schedule for), how does she get cleared? Seemed like Senko at least knew she was dealing with something so you imagine her team and maybe doctors did too. So maybe Blanchfield had concerns about her pulling out and it ended up happening (she did make comments before the fight about Barber not making it to the cage).
