GDT: UFC 314: Volkanovski vs. Lopes/PFL 2025 World Tournament: First Round 2/3

Really happy for Volk, though he can't take hits like he used to. Hope he calls it a career after 1-2 more fights. Evloev isn't a KO artist so he can probably handle him. Don't think a Topuria rematch would go well, if it happened.

Card worked out perfectly for me. Volk back on top and Chandler got smashed. Happy I spent the $80 dollars. Lopes is a fun fighter, probably needs one other win and then I'd be good with a rematch.

Volk looked great, heck of a fight. Too bad a Topuria rematch isn't in the cards. Nice to see the champ come back in peak form, such an easy guy to root for.

Was also nice to see Reyes back in the cage and get another dub. Always liked him and thought he was a talented fighter but that Jones 'loss' really seemed to mess with him mentally.

Great card on paper. Great actual card!

Easily the best card of the year. :)

I thought Volk won 48/47 or 49/46. So scorecards got it right.

Pimblett with a huge win. Very impressive. I was someone who didn't think he would go this high in the rankings.

Yair with a very dominant victory. Too quick and creative for Pitbull.

Silva looked so good against Mitchell. Fighting nerds are legit!

Great knockout by Reyes.

Prelim card was good although I think they stopped the Ige vs. Woodson fight too soon. Still Ige, was on his way to victory. He looked solid.

ay man I did ok until the main card

Close, but clear win for Volk. Cool to see him get the belt back, but there is a bit of an asterisk since the champ and the guy he lost to vacated instead of losing. Evloev seems like the pretty obvious next contender. Would be a tough fight for Volk IMO, but Volk's starting to look a little chinny, so a wrestler might not be a bad thing.

Gotta give it to Paddy. Never thought he'd reach this level and he absolutely dominated Chandler. Chandler is kind of in that Gaethje 1.0 spot now, though. Like, yes, the fights are usually exciting, but if you don't win any of them, I don't know why I should really care that much. At 38, who knows if he's even capable to win relevant fights now.

Yair vs. Pitbull was what I thought it would be.

I find Silva kinda annoying, but ya know...Mitchell can go f*** himself.

Huge win for Reyes. Did Krylov have a bad weight cut or something? His only KO loss was in his UFC debut at HW over 10 years ago and he got badly stung by a single jab. Anyway, good for Dom. That's 3 in a row now with increasing level of competition each time. With how thin LHW is, he might be right. 1 more and then a title shot.

2 judges gave Chandler the first round which I think is pretty bad but on par with what we've been seeing. Total strikes were 25 to 7 in favor of Paddy, significant strikes were 16-5. In a world where damage is supposed to be the #1 criteria, judges have been scoring takedowns and minimal control very heavily.

Now that was a fun night of fights that broke out at Dana White's monthly RNC.

Main event delivered. I had it 49-46 for Volk and I'm very happy to see him get back on top. He was at a clear power disadvantage, as he is in many fights, but he more than makes up for it in other areas. His technical striking and movement was mostly on point in this one. He has been dropped plenty of times before but I do think he's getting a bit more chinny than he used to be so I can't see him staying at the top for too much longer. Props to Lopes as well for showing he belongs and I doubt that's the last time we see him fighting for a belt.

Very impressive win for Paddy, even while accounting for Chandler's age and wear and tear. I have to eat a lot of crow on him because I thought he was very overrated and didn't even see him getting to this point. I'd still pick against him vs all of those names he mentioned post fight but he has shown himself to be a pretty well-rounded fighter. Lots of options for him moving forward.

Yair vs. Pitbull went just as expected. Yair just styled on him for most of the fight and Pitbull had no issue just allowing him to do so. The last minute or so from Pitbull was especially terrible as he didn't even try. I'd actually like to see Yair vs. Lopes next.

Speaking of styling on someone, Silva just embarrassed Mitchell from start to finish. What a performance by him. Quickly becoming one of my favourite fighters to watch and I'm ready to see him against any of the top guys. Maybe chill with the barking a bit, just a thought.

Nice to see this version of Reyes again. He looks legitimately good again.

Thought Volk won clear as day and basically pieced him up aside from a few brief moments. Competitive fight but Volk was in peak form, didn't think it was THAT close although I wouldn't argue 48-47.

I think he would smoke Evloev but that's probably the fight to make. No interest in a Yair rematch (yet) who has lost 2 of his last 3.

Jean Silva should fight Lerone Murphy to determine next contender.

I wanna see Evloev. He's won since his win over oh the guy Volk just beat.

I'm fine with that, even though I think it's a great style matchup for Volk. Evloev barely got by Sterling. He was losing imo until Aljo made a dumb mistake midway through round 3 and gave up position. Got beaten pretty good by Hakeem Dawodu in round 3 of their fight. I don't mind Evloev and he is a definitely a deserving challenger, but he has dropped some rounds that leave some doubt about his ability to become world champ. To beat Volk, you pretty much have to put him out. Islam had some grappling success against him but couldn't do much with it in a razor thin decision. I don't see Evloev being able to take 3+ rounds from the champ but we'll see.

I agree with everything here. I wanna see him have to figure it out. Show me, homie.
