Thought it would be interesting to track the development of the last 3 WJC teams, 2014, '15 and '16.

How they are progressing in their pro careers or new players that have emerged who were overlooked in their WJ years. For Canada we still have a few D-men and goaltenders in the AHL yet to become fulltime NHL regulars, but generally speaking, not a bad looking U21 team. and can't believe I omitted Morgan Rielly. definitely sunstroke.

That is very strong Canada even though not sure about goalies. Sam Bennet double booked also. Im not sure if completely understood this thread but I put my Finland team with current ability mixed with potential. Määttä and Barkov did not play but were eligible Määttä 2014 and Barkov 2014,2015 I put them anyway to make lineup sexier.

My Finland lineup with olympic size 25 man roster from 2014-2016 WJC

Sebastian Aho - Aleksander Barkov - Mikko Rantanen
Artturi Lehkonen - Teuvo Teräväinen - Kasperi Kapanen
Patrik Laine - Julius Nättinen - Jesse Puljujärvi
Henri Ikonen - Juho Lammikko - Kasper Björkqvist
Roope Hintz
Aleksi Saarela

Olli Määttä - Rasmus Ristolainen
Esa Lindell - Ville Pokka
Olli Juolevi - Julius Honka
Vili Saarijärvi
Alex Lintuniemi

Juuse Saros
Ville Husso
Kaapo Kähkönen

There are still some good players outside like Juuso Ikonen, Saku Mäenalanen, Henrik Haapala, Otto Rauhala, Sebastian Repo, Antti Kalapudas etc and a lot of guys for those 4th line spots. Have rarely seen Lintuniemi, not even sure if his better than Mikko Vainonen and could easily put guys like Sami Niku or Joni Tuulola there but wanted towering DD.

NHL Regulars(3) = Määttä and Barkov on theyre 3rd full season Ristolainen on his 2nd
First Full NHL season(1) = Teuvo Teräväinen
AHL with NHL Debut(3) = Mikko Rantanen 6 games, Juuse Saros 1 game, Esa Lindell 2 games, Lindell just got his debut so remains to be seen if he stays up long term or goes down
AHL(4) = Kasperi Kapanen, Henri Ikonen, Julius Honka, Ville Pokka
ECHL(1) = Alex Lintuniemi
Liiga(7) = Sebastian Aho, Patrik Laine, Jesse Puljujärvi, Aleksi Saarela, Ville Husso, Kaapo Kähkönen, Roope Hintz
Jr.A(1) = Kasper Björkqvist, holding pro status to go college route? If I understood correctly
SHL(1) = Artturi Lehkonen
OHL(4) = Vili Saarijärvi, Olli Juolevi, Juho Lammikko, Julius Nättinen

Right. I knew something looked off with my roster. couldn't quite figure it out. must have been the glare of the Florida sunshine on the screen.

The purpose of the thread is only to track the transition of recent junior players as they become pros, who is tracking well and who isn't (Drouin) and which new players, if any, have emerged (D. Severson)

I've always wanted a U22 or U23 tournament...and that's the one the NHL should be doing and not the ridiculous World Cup with gimmicky teams.

Sweden...

Filip Forsberg - Lucas Wallmark - Elias Lindholm
Andreas Johnson - Alexander Wennberg - André Burakovsky
Alexander Nylander - William Nylander - Dmytro Timashov
Adrian Kempe - Axel Holmström - Oscar Lindblom

Gustav Olofsson - Lukas Bengtsson
Sebastian Aho - Gustav Forsling
Robert Hägg - Jacob Larsson

Oscar Dansk
Linus Söderström

A Nylander and Timashov wouldn't make this team.. Also, Wallmark on the first line?

Forsberg - Wennberg - Lindholm
Johnson - W Nylander - Burakovsky
Kempe - Wallmark - Lindblom
de la Rose - Sundqvist - Sörensen

That is actually pretty competitive team. Not as good as Canada in paper, but on par with rest of the bigger countrys.
