Hischier confirmed for Switzerland.

With something like 7 returning players (Eggenberger, Geisser, Gross, Hischier, Kurashev, Le Coultre, Simic) from last years U18, Switzerland doesn't look too ugly....

I hope they don't replace Dahlin with some defensive plug. Chances are Adam Boqvist won't make the Swedish team, he was listed on the U17 roster as well...

And Brännström hasn't played one second in the playoffs, yet won't be released...

Good for Switzerland.
Finland's returning players right at the moment are only Luukkonen ( goalie) and Vesalainen ( forward).

Question...Can Team Canada u-18 "borrow" Gabriel Vilardi and Michael Di Pietro fow Windsor given the Windsor situation that they have to wait around over a month before the Memorial Cup starts? Those 2 surely would make Canada u-18: a lot stronger ...both qualify undervyhevu-18 birthdate rules ...This is a rare situation...as the U-18 tournament is over before the Mem Cup starts ...there is risk to Windso's chances( they are in as host team even though eliminated from OHL playoff advancement) should either Vilardi or DiPietro get hurt at thebu-28 ..but still if your country needs you....what is the rule for this situation if any?

Similar question as to Windsor drafted players already signed by NHL teams ...can they be "borrowed" for play in the AHL on the farm team of the NHL team that drafted and signed them ...Then sent back to Windsor just before the Mem Cup starts? THIS WAY such players would not sit around over a month before playing again? Does anyone know if such "bortowing" is allowed in this situation?

Strange that they didn't bring in more non-NTDP guys, especially at goalie.

I was a bit surprised they didn't replace Adam Scheel with Cayden Primeau, but they must be planning to ride St. Cyr. Primeau had a down year, but he's still better than Scheel. I imagine they wanted Petruzelli but Muskegon will be in the USHL Playoffs.

The most obvious non-NTDPers to target were Poehling, Robertson, Lodnia, Chmelevski, Petruzelli, and Primeau. Robertson, Lodnia, and Petruzelli are still playing with their respective teams so they weren't options, and they took Poehling. I'm surprised they didn't add Chmelevski since he's played so well at the Hlinka and played with a lot of these guys when they called him in to the U17 World Challenge last year as well. I would have added Primeau too, but not convinced he was the obvious answer in goal.

lf USA management ever pick their best players they would even be more successful. What would they lose by adding a couple OHL guys.

What sense does it make to go with a 5ft 8' goalie.

There weren't a couple of OHL guys worth adding. They should have added Chmelevski, but Roberson and Lodnia are unavailable due to the OHL playoffs and there weren't any other guys in the OHL worth consideration.

Are games going to be streamed?

Yes as per the Slovak federation there should be a stream on the IIHF website from all games in addition to the games being televised in Slovakia, Finland, Canada and I think some other countries as well.

Also, an interesting tidbit, the game between Slovakia and Canada is already sold out.

Interesting. After the team's first exhibition game against Belarus (St. Cyr started), they decided to add Primeau to the roster.

Excellent. Do you know if the SVK-SWE exhibition game tomorrow will be streamed?

NHL Network will be airing US and Canadian games. Nice to see that continue after they did it last year.

Slovaks have by far the best team in the last maybe 15 years, and again such a long time have not. If you get a medal, it will not be any surprises.

I do not think it is by far the best team in 15 years. At least not by far. And there is no reason to think that there will not be a team as good in the future. Time will tell.
