Last night vs Seattle, Kozak had a season-high 6 SOG, leading to two goals and an assist. I was a bit surprised that these were 75% of his points on the year with how he looked.

Goals are shown below in Bakes' tweet; while his assist came off a 2v1 where he took the RW wrister, then a rebound trickled through crease, teammate's attempt saved, but Kozak continued behind net and poked that rebound back in front which got buried.

He's prickly more so than pointy - as a smaller player, that stick is in use for more than just doing things with the puck.

Having a nice D+1 season - 44 GP 23G 27A. Winterhawks are on a 16 game streak, marred only by a single OTL, during which Kozak has 10G and 12A.

Might have found a useful player in the 7th round.

He did get an honorable mention in Wheeler's list yesterday but not his own entry.

Prospects Update: Kozak putting up numbers, Huglen heating up

Tyson Kozak, Buffalo’s 7th round pick in the 2021 NHL Draft, has quietly put together 57 points in 50 games for the Portland Winterhawks of the WHL. He has an impressive 15 points in his last 9 games.
Kozak was a prospect who had the tools, just not the production, when the Sabres drafted him. Now that he has the production, he’s an intriguing prospect to watch going forward:

Made the unfortunate decision to not be 6', or he'd have gone in the 3rd or 4th. What's his skating like? All his highlights start and stop with him being in front of the net. Which, don't get me wrong, nothing to complain about.

Looking at his size gotta think he's going to stay at Portland for another season, 165lbs he'd get murdered in the goonery that is AHL. 5'11" seems optimistic.

Staying in the dub should be the preference.

He moves well enough but it isn't a feature in the games I've watched. He gets where he needs to be and battles throughout but he isn't doing so as a burner like say Peterka. He's quick, and part of it is mental in that he knows where to be to disrupt plays or create openings depending on it being defense or offense.
