When a two-way contract includes a signing bonus, does the player subject to this contract still get paid if he stays in the AHL the entire season and his minor league salary is less than the amount of the bonus? Mason Marchment's ELC, for example, gave him a standard $92,500 yearly signing bonus and a minor league salary of $70,000. Is that minor league number considered base salary or total salary?

Signing bonuses are paid in full regardless of whether the player is in the AHL, NHL or even sent back to juniors.

Signing bonuses are separate from Salary. So Marchment would have been paid at least $92.5k signing bonus plus $70k AHL salary—$162.5k.

this is true with any contract , not just an ELC. Bonus money+ AHL/NHL Salary split
