On today's show we spoke to voice of the Jets 1.0 Curt Keilback about his new book Two Minutes for Talking to Myself (Link to buy the book here). My goal was simply to get him to say "great save Essensa" (achieved) but joking aside he provided some great memories of the original Winnipeg NHL franchise.

Chat begins at the 1:22:53 mark

Enjoyed hearing this as well. Liked the way he called a game.
Keilback was the best, hands down.

I recall being a kid in the 80s, literally having my heart stop when his voice was raised (usually in the Jets end on a visiting team PP). The strange thing is, his contract was not renewed by CJOB in 1994, after 15 seasons with the Jets. The Coyotes immediately retained hiim in 1996, and he went on to win Broadcaster of the Year in 1999, for Arizona.

However, in 2007 the Coyotes let him go. Very strange. He hasn't really done radio work for a pro sports teams since then. Today, he is 74, and sadly it looks like he simply is too old to be calling NHL games.

It's a shame he got canned. The man was immensely talented. If you've ever been in an industry that requires true talent you also need the management to reign in that talent. Cjob never had that.
