Sorry Max -- 8 years of Carrie ain't my idea of fun.

I am curious to know how Mandy Potamkin lasted through the entire series....he's left and/or been thrown off every previous series within a year or two.

If you enjoy political intrigue type thrillers as I do very much, you’ll deal with Carrie Mattheson having a breakdown every now and again seeing the story lines are way too riveting to let distractions like that get in the way of what is a very well made show.

FYI: You only giving the series 1 season wasn’t really enough seeing besides Carrie not having breakdowns a lot of the time, some of the characters that came along in subsequent seasons that you didn’t see and story lines were quite impressive indeed.

But hey, I’ll go back to that ole true and tested different strokes for different peeps.!

Goodfellas is an amazing movie.Give it a watch, you won't be disappointed
By the time that movie came along, I was totally sick of the genre. I honestly don't think I saw GFIII -- if I did, I don't remember a thing about it....hell, I don't remember much about the first two.

I thought season 1 was exceptional -- but Carrie really was too much of a distraction.

I loved the Sopranos -- never had any interest in seeing Goodfellas.

No interest in Goodfellas? Really? You might be the only person that I am aware of who hasn’t seen it let alone not even interested in seeing it.

Do yourself a big time favor...you won’t regret it I promise you but go channel surfing one night the Rangers aren’t on TV like tonight and give a Goodfellas a watch.

And after you watch it and you don’t come back here and say “ wow what was I thinking...why did I wait so long to see Goodfellas...it was fantastic “, than my recommendation priveledges should be taken away by the moderators here...lol

In all seriousness...just go watch the dang movie already. If yo loved the Sopranos...you’ll love Goodfellas...they go hand in hand....like Band of Brothers TV series and the movie Saving Private Ryan....ya follow or as Tony Soprano would say...capiche?

Nothing wrong with your recommendations.....I think we've been pretty much in sync most of the time (Homeland notwithstanding).

To be honest, I never was a big movie fan from the get go.

Yes it is. Not sure what floats your boat but if your like me and loved the Sopranos HBO series and the movie Goodfellas, well combine the two of them and transport yourself to 1920’s Birmingham, Great Britain and you have yourself a pretty good idea of what Peaky Blinders is about and why it’s one of my top 10 TV series of all time and why I might be recommending it to those of y’all who haven’t seen it yet.

Goodfellas is probably my favorite film ever made. It is perfect, to me. Other great ones:

Animal House
Annie Hall
Apocalypse Now
Arsenic and Old Lace
Atlantic City
Bride of Frankenstein
Crimes and Misdemeanors
Die Hard
E.T. - The Extra Terrestrial
Groundhog Day
Happiness
Inherit The Wind
It's a Wonderful Life
My Darling Clementine
Psycho
Public Enemy
Schindler's List
Silence of the Lambs
Slap Shot
Sling Blade
The Birds
The Day the Earth Caught Fire
The Exorcist
The French Connection
The Longest Day
The Producers
The Ref
The Ring
The Roaring Twenties
The Shining
The Terminator
To Kill a Mockingbird
Treasure of the Sierra Madre
Triumph of the Will
Umberto D
What Ever Happened to Baby Jane
White Heat
Wizard of Oz

I watched two seasons of Peaky Blinders, but it never quite grabbed me.

No Young Frankenstein? No The In-Laws (Arken/Falk version)?

Arsenic & Old Lace is one of the funniest movies I've ever seen....while I'm a huge Bette fan, I prefer Hush, Hush, Sweet Charlotte over Baby Jane

I think Homeland dropped in quality a bit, but it's still pretty entertaining. I'm looking forward to this last season.

2 excellent Netflix shows I recently discovered: Giri/Haji and Fauda -both subtitled though

Giri/Haji is in both Japanese and English. It's about a Japanese detective searching for his brother in London who is a presumed-dead member of a Yakuza crime family that has set off a war among the Yakuza crime families by committing a murder in London. I don't want to give away any details, but it's a very layered story with great character development. Highly recommended.

Fauda is about the war on terror in the Israel-Palestine conflict. It is extremely tense and filled with action as it follows an undercover Israeli Special Forces unit. It's hard not to binge it as each episode typically ends with a cliffhanger. I watched the first 2 episodes last week and 10 to finish out season 1 last night. That's what happens when the stupid NHL doesn't have Rangers playing until Friday. I already finished the first ep of season 2 today.

My inlaws watched Fauda dubbed in English. It was hilariously terrible and awkward but they loved it. As a rule they don't do subtitles for whatever reason.

Yeah I watched the 1st season of Faunda which was OK...good enough to get me too watch it but not good enough to get me to watch more than a few episodes of season 2 which I did and than for one reason or another I stopped.

It just didn’t grab me like other series do. I recall thinking this watching season 1 and thinking ok the next episode I’ll really get hooked but that never really happened and I’d say same thing the next episode.

Before I knew it I had finished season 1. So not a bad watch by any means it just didn’t do it for me. You know that saying...different strokes...yada..yada...yada...lol

Well we’ll agree on Goodfellas and from your list Schindlers List, the Excorcist, Silence of the Lambs and Slapshot and I guess we’ll not as you didn’t like Peaky which by the way is the first negative comments about the show I’ve heard from someone who watched it.

I have a ton of movies on my list that is not on yours but a couple of faves of mine are Gladiator, Shawshank Redemption, Midnight Run from back a few years and The Green Book, Three Billboards in Ellings, Missouri and The Martian from more recent time period.

I'm one of the few people I know who didn't think Gladiator was that good. While Midnight Run was good, I doubt it's in my top 10 films with DeNiro.

You probably are in the minority no doubt when it comes to thinking Gladiator was no good. Curious why you think that seeing that movie probably is in my top 5 ever.

First off glad someone besides me even is aware of Midnight Run. Secondly that movie is just a total riot and Charles Grodin and Deniro make the funniest duo I’ve seen in a movie.

King of Comedy (especially) and Mad Dog and Glory are two De Niro films that deserve more love than they get.

Not sure any of y'all have seen the Netflix series "Unbelievable" but if you haven't put it on your list. I started watching it not expecting much and before you know it, I couldn't stop binging.

Very intense show that depicts a girl who is raped but due to circumstances I'm not going to mention, you'll have to watch it, she changes her story and than it really gets good. It's based on a true story and it's one of the best series I saw in the past year...highly recommend it.

History of The World part 1 is my favorite.Followed by Spaceballs

Always surprised when The Producers and Blazing Saddles aren't the two favorites of Brooks fans, but everything is just about opinion.

I could only see Spaceballs as a choice if someone really loves Star Wars, which I don't. I thought Empire Strikes Back was by far the best of the Star Wars films.

I watched Popeye on Netflix a few days ago with my 2 youngest and they absolutely loved it.I forgot just how damn good it was myself since i hadn't seen it in over 20 years or so.Robin Williams was something else.Such an iconic actor
