One thing is for sure last season we had some toughness this year we are SOFT. Simmonds, Clifford, Bush all out, plus Blackwell and Bunting(not playing gritty this year) had some edge to them.

I am not sure how Dubas brings in all this toughness over the season

look at the acqusition costs for blackwell and bush

We can pay similar assets (3rd, B-/C+ level prospect)

If we want cheap grit that is lower in the lineup it won't be that hard

If we want a premium gritty guy like Bertuzzi or Jenner the cost will be high

People hate the idea of a designated goon on the fourth line, I used to too. But recently I’m coming around on the idea. Why can’t we have a design face puncher on the fourth line? Like Tie Domi in his prime, or Matt Martin when he was here and Babcock hadn’t soured on him yet. Is it so difficult to find a player who isn’t a complete liability who’s capable of caving someone’s face in when the occasion calls for it?

Agree with you. I loved those teams growing up, and while it was other stuff I really liked, the grit was always there as one of this secondary things you could count on if things got hostile.
