Seems crazy that the Islanders fired him given the headwinds they had to deal with this past season.

Gallant has done an excellent job but he runs a loose team and one could argue that the Rangers would benefit from a more system oriented coach like Trotz.

Just saying; can't imagine Drury would move on from Gallant regardless of our playoff performance after one year.

This fanbase would absolutely hate Trotz. You want to talk about a coach who is over reliant on his depth players and doesn't give young players a chance in a big role? Wahlstrom was constantly scratched/played on the bottom line. Dobson played 13 mins/game his first year (got mins this year but don't forget Mayfield and Pulock missed a lot of time).

What is so great about Trotz anyway? He's made one SCF in 24 years. The Capitals have been almost just as good without him as they were with him and that's with their core all older.

Even if Lafreniere, Kakko, Kravtsov, and Othmann reach their full potential.

Will Panarin, Kreider, and Zibanejad still be around or as effective?

I think he could do a good job as an assistant coach. Someone who runs the defense.
