At the time this thread is being written Boston is a point out of the playoffs, Charlie Mac is out week to week and H Lindholm is still injured as far as I can find.

Boston could still make it and I don't want to count them out completely until they are finished.

But they are in a tough spot.

If Trent Fredric was to be sold, what would be the price?

As much as they need draft picks. They need young forwards who can compete with the core of Pasta, CMAC, Swayman etc.

The UFA status obviously hurts here. With this type of player you're hoping for more of what you've previously seen and less of what you're seeing. So for teams trading, are you trading and signing him for what he thinks he's worth, or what he's currently worth? Are you just going into the playoffs trying to add some more jam to your roster and not signing him or is this a future piece you keep in your lineup?

I think you can get a 3rd and a B prospect, or maybe 2nd and a lower prospect/change of scenery. If Boston falls and this becomes a deadline deal, you may see Boston just take whatever, if they aren't signing him. If you want active NHL players, I'm not sure playoff teams have pieces to move out that Boston would consider part of their future going forward.

Personally I think he's closer to the player that he was the last 2 years VS this year.

I'm fairly confident in that because he just turned 27 It's not like he's 33.

It would depend on the money he wants obviously but I would be willing to sign him because again he just turned 27

Early in the year I probably would have given my right arm for Fred. Now, I look at him and he looks like a shell of himself. He's on pace for 22 points this year (currently 8-7-15) with the worst +/- on the team. In the playoffs he has 5 points in 22 playoff games. I've seen some bruins fans just want to get rid of him. He's been passed by Brazeau and Geekie.

I would probably give up 2025 3rd round pick and a 2026 3rd round pick.

I think a lot of teams would be looking to sign him, just depending on what he feels he's worth. If this season was like the previous 2, he's looking at 4+ with the cap going up. A near 20 goal scorer providing some grit.

Could see him getting the Tanner Jeannot overpayment at the deadline if they went that route. Teams love guys like this and always seem to want to overpay them.

I don't see a team giving up an entire draft class for him.

I think that happened once, everyone thought it was a mistake but Tampa got the benefit of the doubt because Tampa earned it.

It was proven to be a mistake and it won't happen again.

Now if it were a package like Fredric and Carlo that would be different.

But not for Fredric alone

depends on which team is calling. for the leafs it's a higher price to acquire fredEric.

maybe a bidding war gets bruins a late 1st round pick, but we'll see.

shouldn't be that way. BOS imo should look to get as much as they can get no matter the team interested.
I could see this being true like if 2 offers are very close BOS might be able to pry an extra asset to go with them over another.

BOS should always look to trade with Leafs anyways. they always do well against us. Rask for Raycrap I mean Raycroft
Kessel for 2x 1sts + 2nds.... Seguin + Hamilton + Jared Knight (bust)

I cant recall many other big deals like this in my life time atleast

I'm not the biggest Frederic fan. Given the type of player he supposedly is, he doesn't play that way on a consistent basis. Not nearly physical enough most shifts, not agitating enough most shifts and he's very reliant on others for his offense. I hope some team overpays but I'm not counting on based on the poor offensive year he is having.

For whichever team tries to acquire him, they'll have to consider how they'll use him.

His two best offensive seasons, he played mostly on his off-wing (RW). He's more confident carrying the puck down the right side and can lean into defenders carrying the puck to the net.

This season he's gone back and forth between LW and C. They moved him to Center for a period of games, took a bit to get adjusted but playing in the middle forced him to keep his feet moving more and that is key to him playing well. But then they recalled Poitras and the glut at center pushed Frederic back to LW (and Coyle to RW).

On LW his play and production has been very inconsistent. Shows up maybe twice every 10 games.

My guess is as a rental he's in 2nd round pick territory. Not consistent enough at one position to justify a 1st rounder IMO.

I'm sure every fan base has "those" fans.

Breazeau hasn't passed him. Geekie has scored at a 30 goal / 60 point pace with Pasta so yeah, he has passed Frederic. Frederic is the 3LW or 3C every night. Brazeau has played a little in the top6 but has mostly played on the 3rd or 4th line and has been scratched a few times too.

Fwiw, Frederic was one of our best players in last year's playoffs. He was one of our best even strength scorers (and was the two previous regular seasons too). He has kind of been on an island this year. With guys who are breaking in, or not ready. He needs a good C.

He’s easily worth a first round pick. He brings toughness and can add the odd goal and sticks up defends his teammates. Big body who can skate and won’t get pushed around.

Sabres will give you Cozens, but you also gotta trade for Anders Bjork and play him for at least 82 games. Repayment, for having given him to us and making us watch that.
