I mean come on man, we have to define a power forward somehow, and I don't think a subjective stat such as "throwing a hit that that was memorable or changes the game" is the way a power forward should be defined. You mentioned fights, hits and gets points so I set a criteria using that

Pick whatever number of hits you want, I can only go off of stats to try and define a power forward point because I don't watch every single game to know if Dakota Joshua or Barbashev has thrown enough game changing hits to fit the mold.

What I do know is very few players in the league through the volume of hits he does and pop 30+ points. What i do know is a lot of the players using that criteria above are exactly the type of guys you'd consider a power forward such as E. Kane, Wilson, Miller and Tkachuk, and Freddy falls into that list of guys.

I'd consider those names all much better offensive players than Trent. Those are all legitimate power forwards or at least they were.

If he was a consistent offensive player I wouldn't care how shitty of a body-checker he is.

And while I've never liked him as a player, it wasn't until this year I realized what a douchebag he is.

There is no issue, with any of the fights, as far as I'm concerned.

Fair enough.

Look, if that was a close hotly contested game with both teams still having a chance of winning, I'd have less of an issue with it. If it was against a division rival like Florida or Tampa, a team you'll see multiple times again and likely in the playoffs, I'd have less of an issue with it. Bruins won't see Winnipeg in the playoffs. Even the game in January might be a shit-show, or it might be a whole pile of nothing, Jets aren't worried about the Bruins.

But the time and place and score, to instigate that confrontation the way he did, served no purpose and all it accomplished was making him and the Bruins look worse than they already did.

How would people feel if that was Lowry forcing a guy like Poitras into a fight and knocking him senseless? All good?

Dont be surprised if you see other tougher players in the NHL do this to Frederic. This shit isn’t respected at all.

They are all better offensively but those 4 are also in a league of their own in regards to power forwards. I'm not trying to say he's the cream of the crop here, but just that he fits the mold of what a power forward generally is these days.

David Gustafsson had 6 penalty mins in 116 NHL games before that fight.

I think the Jets will come knocking on Trent’s door next game and I wouldn’t blame them a single bit.

Bennett literally did that to Lindholm and no one liked it, but it takes two to tango.

Lindholm ultimately decided to drop them and got smoked, he wasn't forced into it. Gustafsson could have ignored Freddy but he didn't and he got smoked too.

I don't think the discussion has to be this big, we all wanted retribution on Bennett for it, and if Winnipeg cares enough Freddy will be fighting someone next matchup and then we move on

David Gustafsson could have said no.

Can you name another time Freddy did this? Can you name a time he turned down a fight against someone you would consider to be someone he should fight?

Dude, communicating with you is actually remarkably nauseating.

Sure, he could have said no, but he’s a kid. He probably thought he was doing the right thing? I don’t know. I don’t know what goes through players heads.

I expect the Jets to come calling next game. Do you think Frederic should oblige if confronted?

I remember Bruins fans being outraged when Bennett took advantage of Lindholm. The difference is, during their tussle, Lindholm punched Bennett in the face. That’s when Bennett dropped his gloves and started teeing off.

It's a rare day when you and I are on the same page, but you're spot on in this assessment of Freddy's actions in this game. It was a bitch ass move. I'm sure the Jets will have a response next game. Hopefully it stays contained to Freddy and they don't target Pasta or Marchand for his bs behaviors.

I have no problem with Frederic doing what he did, I have a problem with who he did it with. It’s just not a good look. He was a kid, literally penalized 3 times in 116 NHL games, and now he’s concussed because Trent Frederic found a ball sack all of a sudden.

I don’t think Frederic has that same energy if that’s Lowry across from him. I don’t think he responds if it’s Ryan Reaves instead of Adam Larsson who hits Poitras.

Did he jump him? No.

Did he take advantage of him? Absolutely.
Sounds like a gustafsson issue to me, don’t grab him and go with him after pissing him off when you know you haven’t fought anybody before.

Not Frederic’s fault he bit off more than he could chew

I'd like for one of the Frederic defenders to explain the purpose of instigating that altercation with Gustafsson. Other than Trent Frederic feeling better about Trent Frederic.

Frederic didn't do that for the team. He wasn't getting payback on Gustafsson for something that happened earlier. He wasn't standing up for his teammates. He wasn't sending a message. He wasn't trying to turn the tide in a closely contested game.

He did it for himself, so he could feel good about punching another player in the face, and made his team look bad doing it.

And to make matters worse, Zadorov had to clean up his mess.

If Sacco had any guts at all he would of stapled Frederic to the bench for the selfishness.

This is a really, really dumb post.

Imagine blaming Gustafsson for this. That’s truly remarkable.

The fight aside, as to @DominicT 's question, I'd offer Freddy 2.5 X3, and maybe go as high as 3X3, but that's it, and no trade protection. He can take it or leave it, and were I GM, I'd offer it before the TDL and tell his agent he either accepts the deal or we're trading him.

By asking me this, all you're doing is putting aside the sample size argument you've chosen.

Pick a goal post, and stop moving it.

As to your take on him, I said what you're saying, but pages ago. Pay him as a bottom 6. Not a top 6.
wait? Lonnie moving the goal post :biglaugh:

A lot of ppl here don’t like personal responsibility I guess. Gustafsson engaged him for f***s sake. Could’ve just skated away and let nothing happen like Logan Stanley did in the first period. I bet he’ll fight whoever they got next game

3x3 for me. Thats it. I offer before TDL.
He signs, he stays. He says no, he goes.

Agree 100%.

He is the biggest conundrum I’ve seen in a B’s uniform, maybe in decades.

I feel like he teases us in every aspect of the game.

Like a jack of all trades (but only at a C+ level) and certainly a master of none.

He has stretches where he seems like he can be a Tom Wilson - lite.

Has stretches where you think he can be a Brock Nelson type.

Then he does almost nothing for a month.

I mean I don’t hate him, but no matter what he does, I always think he can do more.
