I'm actually curious about how Trent sees his own game these days. Does he fancy himself a skilled forward now that is out there to score goals? He was a different player in the AHL and when he first came up, and I wonder if that was just him doing what he thought he needed to do to make the NHL but was never really the player he wanted to be. For a long time we heard certain people claim that the Bruins were "neutering" (LOL) their guys- Bruce, or Sweeney, or Monty or whoever. Kastelic doesn't appear neutered to me, so I guess it's Frederic wanting to be a different type of player. Unlike Brad, who reinvented himself to some extent (oh if Trent had Brad's drive), Trent doesn't seem to have the skill to play the game he seems to want to.

Or, you know, I am just full of shit here, which wouldn't be the first time in my life, but I really am curious as to what's happened with this guy.
I think he's thought of himself that way for 2-3 years.

I just wish he would try to get himself involved in the game if he's not scoring. It's a Sunday skate for him. He has to know the offense isn't there and that he can make an impact in other ways, he's just flat out choosing not to.

I'm hard on the guy because I just expect more. It's the whole "I'm not mad, I'm just disappointed" type of thing.

He's shown he can play the pest.
He's shown he can draw penalties and be a physical player
He's shown he can occasionally drop the gloves.
He's shown he has a scoring touch.
He's shown he has good on ice offensive instincts.

The first 3 he can absolutely control if he's not scoring. The first 3 are 100% a choice.
He's also shown he can be a great forechecker with his long reach, and back checker with his good straight line speed. He can control those elements of his game too and that's what I keep hoping to see, but it hasn't been there on a consistent basis, and a game like tonight against the Isles it's especially frustrating.

We should do something like Karlsson 50% retained for Carlo and Freddy.

Get the PP QB and let McAvoy and Peeke focus on defending on the right side.

Is this kid hurt? Seems weird he isn’t noticeable in any way.
He's not hurt, he's just Freddy ....whole career shows up every 3rd or 4th game. His internal give a shit meter is sadly lacking....otherwise known as compete level....too bad because he has the skills to be a difference maker. Not sure if it can be fixed, sample size is large.

I doubt Pittsburgh is 50% retaining on Karlsson.

Trade Carlo for Kesselring and free up $3M in cap space for next year and whatever the amount is this year.

I'd like to see Freddy break out of his slump ( home grown two way power forward when on his game ) but he is looking rough out there and in a contract year. I feel for him but the Bruins are probably at the point where they're identifying what spots could use upgrading and they have to be looking at Freddy right now.

You know just maybe try him at center, his natural position, put him with Marchand, and put the greatest, 8 mil away from the play center, on wing. I think Freddy is now just plain pressing give him a chance, and see what happens.
