I enjoyed Bumblebee so hopefully its more of that rather than Bayformers. As a G1 fan, I'm disappointed Mirage is a Porsche (No Jazz?) and Wheeljack is a friggin Bus.

The trailer looks good, but Transformers trailers usually do. I'm cautiously optimistic since Bay is not directing and Bumblebee was good.

Yay Arcee looks to have a major role.

I grew up with Gen 1-2 Transformers so anytime the forgotten Gen 2 ones like Arcee or Kup are in, it's cool.

Yeah hopefully more Bumblebee then Bay.

So is that Jazz or Mirage, the Porsche that is, or a mix of both?

It's Mirage. Seemingly largely to justify the hologram copies bit in the police chase. Which is kind of silly because holographic diversions was never Mirage's thing, it was Hound's (Mirage could turn invisible).

It's also a little annoying because it seems like Mirage is set to be the "bonds with a human" bot of this movie which would again be out of character for him (Mirage's personality is supposed to more along the lines of "stuck up high class/old money fop") and would actually be more in character for Jazz.

I'm cautiously optimistic for this. Bumblebee was fun and it's not Bayverse so there's that.

but I swear to god if this does a sequel or a full Beast Wars spinoff and BW Megatron isn't played by David Kaye I am burning their studio to the ground. They brought back Peter Cullen to play OG Optimus. This is on that level of "accept no substitutes"

I find the concept of a gigantic gorilla a little bit ridiculous as I presumed that the forms Transformers could occupy were meant to be a form of camouflage.

MORE TOYS DAMN IT! KIDS LOVE ROBOTS. KIDS LOVE ANIMALS. BOOM!

Yeah, it's ridiculous, but the Dinobots were introduced way back in Episode 7 of Season 1 of the original cartoon, in 1984. I had the Snarl (Stegosaurus) toy and loved it (in spite of realizing how ridiculous it was), so the marketing worked.

Yeah I kind of liked the Dinobots.

The fact that they were dumb like dinosaurs was sort of amusing.

They’ve pulled that material from the Beast Wars show from the mid 90’s to which you see a lot of those characters in this movie.

I used to love that one so it’s interesting they’ve blended the two together.

Yeah, I remember the show.

I was a bit older by then so I was still more nostalgic for the Sunbow show running from 84 to 87.

I'm cautiously optimistic, but out-doing the best parts of Beast Wars is a high bar for them to clear. "Code of Hero" might be the best episode of Transformers fiction in the franchise's history.

Michael Bay seems to have made me disinterested in the franchise.. but I did hear good things about Bumblebee… maybe I should give that a go and watch this eventually

I watched bumblebee and it was fine. Never saw the full movie of the Last knight. Just a couple of clips here and there. Didn’t want to waste time on it like age of extinction which ended Bayformers for me.
