The team should be much better this season because of enhancement of roster and maturation of youth. Coaching won't be a big factor, in my opinion. Gallant has already said that the system will be about the same as last season and that every coach plays very similar systems.
Maybe style wise. But Gallant is going to do a way better job of motivating/ getting the most out of his players. Better then Quinn was doing.
Part of the reason is because he’s a new coach coming in, but there are also many other factors.
- arenas will be full
- we are overall tougher, playing physical/hitting gets guys blood up. They will also feel and be more protected on the ice.
-kids are a year older, more mature, should be better overall
-proper camp/offseason training etc

Turk really does look like a turtle without its shell. It's great.

Contrast with Trotz who looks like a turtle with its shell

You want examples? Okay.

The Carolina Hurricanes in 2018 produced content including four 20-minute episodes giving fans a glimpse of what they can expect from Andrei Svechnikov, and how they acquired him. They follow the scouts, recorded at the combine, the draft and even followed Svechnikov around Raleigh when he first arrived.

The Chicago Blackhawks in 2017 did something similar, when they hosted the draft and picked Finnish defenseman Henri Jokiharju.

The Rangers had the opportunity to do something similar when they had their first top-3 pick since 1966(!) back in 2019, but they chose not to. Of course they are free to not produce any content, but at the same time Ranger fans are free to complain about it as well.

This organization has never been a pioneer, never been a frontrunner in terms of trying new things. They always play it safe, and with them playing in Manhattan, with corporate suits, tourists and celebrities filling seats, they don't have to cater to their fanbase to sell tickets.

Did you notice the difference in camera quality between the 2 scrimmage games last weekend? Night and day. It is just 1 example of countless moments where the Rangers aren't really trying. And for the record, we are talking about an organization worth 1.5 billion dollars, that has its own TV station. Is it really unfair of fans to expect more?

Everything you wrote has nothing to do with team performance, which is all most of us care about.

I have no idea what your point is in regards to the Blackhawks. What was pioneering about it? They made a video, too?

Carolina feels the need to increase interest in the area. The Rangers don't have the need nor the desire to do anything similar.

What exactly are you looking for in terms of pioneering for the Rangers? Better camera work at a scrimmage?

While I suppose that would be nice, you can't realistically have expectations that a corporation will care about the wants of a very small fraction of their fanbase. That's just not how big business works.

And you're right that you're free to complain about anything you want.

Margaret Bourke White is the photographer in that picture. She loved the Chrysler Building so much and had her studio there. She wanted to live there as well but Manhattan zoning codes forbade it unless you were on the janitorial staff.
She tried to have the buildings owners list her as staff to circumvent the law but her application was denied.
If anyone would like to read one of the most comprehensive books on Manhattan in the 20th Century can’t recommend enough.
Supreme City: How Jazz Age Manhattan Gave Birth to Modern America
Book by Donald L. Miller. Read it when it first was released and then again just last week. It also is available in audiobook format.

I love it. Say what you will for his contract and actualy on ice performance, it has been stated that Reaves is a great guy in the locker room and certainly feels that way from what we've heard during the first days of camp.

I'm glad he's here, but my hope is that the 4th line eventually becomes Blais-Barron-Hunt rather than Blais-Rooney-Reaves as soon as possible.

I think Hunt could potentially be this years Colin Blackwell under the radar signing that ends up being a good piece.

I can see the value. Conditioning doesn’t really require a team. It should be on the players to be staying in shape, not using camp to get into shape. The benefit of getting everyone together is they can learn how to play with each other and develop accountability and cooperation.

I agree, back in the day camps were a bit longer and very few players did any off ice training so they used camp and preseason to “get their legs back”.

Vast majority of players now have specified diets and training plans in the off-season and many begin skating a few weeks before camps begin.

So yeah their isn’t as much value in bag skates other than a coach showing who’s boss. And it’s such a grueling season that over taxing your players for a week straight before the real games start may have the opposite effect you are going for.

Recovery levels have become just as important or more important than adding consistent strain to an athlete.

I like the approach, provided there is enough time to dedicate to systems and special teams practice as the season nears, which you would expect

Kravtsov is a real-life Youngblood getting ready for his Racke. And holy moly, Reaves' upper arm is just bulging even with pads on.

Still, I think it's fantastic that Shesty included on his mask.
Shesty: look at my new mask and this cool eagle
Kreids: it's not an eagle. It is a gargoyle off the Chrysler Building. I am a bit of an amateur historian in the off-season
Shesty: you serious?
Kreids: why would I lie to you, as your captain?
Shesty: shit! I wanted something from the Empire State Building!

A lot of assumptions made in this role play.
