They don't give a shit. It's infuriating, but what can we do? They missed a golden opportunity to create a special connection between this young core and its fanbase with some rebuild-focused content but all we get is 10-second videos on Twitter.

They missed nothing.

They don't do it because it doesn't help them. If there was any negative factor to doing it this way, they would change it.

It has no effect on the size of the fanbase. If they provided more content, we would watch it, but no one is watching MSG unless they are already way into it.

This is why they don't care. Because they can afford not to care. They will always sell tickets, based on their location.

So, why should they change? They're not a public service.

I am not saying they should. I honestly don't expect them to. The Rangers were never pioneers at anything, and never will be.

I'm just saying it's a missed opportunity in terms of creating content which this sport lacks severely.

There's only two instances I can recall of skaters profoundly affecting PK performance and they happened a year apart.

14-15 when Rick Nash had the best penalty killing season since hockey was invented and the following year when Kevin Hayes and JT Miller decided to kill penalties by just...not doing that, f*** it.

Needless to say, they went in opposite directions.

The team should be much better this season because of enhancement of roster and maturation of youth. Coaching won't be a big factor, in my opinion. Gallant has already said that the system will be about the same as last season and that every coach plays very similar systems.
We’ll see about that. I beg to differ. Even if systems are similar, the Coach matters. If the Coach didn’t matter they would have lifetime contracts.

The way the team is structured now is much different though than last season. Bringing in Goodrow, Blais, Reaves, Nemeth, maybe Hunt, Tinordi---they're all players that can easily assume roles and a luxury that the last coaching group didn't have. As well younger players like Fox, Lindgren, Shesterkin, Lafreniere, Chytil, Kakko, Miller and Kravtsov will be one year further along in their development. It's a much more physical team as well.

Are other franchises pioneers?

How will you be able to quantify Gallant's effectiveness?

I think you have it backwards. If some coaches were great, they are the ones who would have lifetime contracts.

Everyone will just use correlation of record as proof they were right no matter ones stance

The Rangers will be a better and more balanced team this year with all the changes but coaching does matter. Gallant took an expansion team to the SCF. I still find that amazing. Trotz took an average talent Isles team to back to back final fours. Do you think that happens with Capuano as their coach? Not a chance. I can't wait to see this team when Gallant has had the time to fully implement his systems.

Which, and how so?

You want examples? Okay.

The Carolina Hurricanes in 2018 produced content including four 20-minute episodes giving fans a glimpse of what they can expect from Andrei Svechnikov, and how they acquired him. They follow the scouts, recorded at the combine, the draft and even followed Svechnikov around Raleigh when he first arrived.

The Chicago Blackhawks in 2017 did something similar, when they hosted the draft and picked Finnish defenseman Henri Jokiharju.

The Rangers had the opportunity to do something similar when they had their first top-3 pick since 1966(!) back in 2019, but they chose not to. Of course they are free to not produce any content, but at the same time Ranger fans are free to complain about it as well.

This organization has never been a pioneer, never been a frontrunner in terms of trying new things. They always play it safe, and with them playing in Manhattan, with corporate suits, tourists and celebrities filling seats, they don't have to cater to their fanbase to sell tickets.

Did you notice the difference in camera quality between the 2 scrimmage games last weekend? Night and day. It is just 1 example of countless moments where the Rangers aren't really trying. And for the record, we are talking about an organization worth 1.5 billion dollars, that has its own TV station. Is it really unfair of fans to expect more?

Coaches do matter but their effect is way overblown by fans. 95% people here think he were a contender last year if anyone other than Quinn is on the bench. And the reality of it is that we were young and really not that good

There are very limited people who give a shit about this, you being one of them. It sounds like you are mad they dont cater to you. Im as big a Ranger fan as they come and I could care less about any of that stuff

I'm not upset. I have accepted years ago that the Rangers aren't going to provide this content. I don't expect them to. I am simply pointing out that other organizations are doing it, including original six-orgs.

I believe that is a gargoyle off of the Chrysler Building.

I'm trying to upload an image, but am struggling mightily. Help please?

Never mind. Got it!

Yes, but I would put money on the Rangers having at least 5 more points last year with Gallant running the same exact team and as we know that can be the difference between making the playoffs and not in most years.
