I think that’s the plan with Miller. If he has even a decent camp he makes the team and you see what he’s got at this level.

If it’s obvious it isn’t time he goes to the AHL when they start. Otherwise he’s just hanging around and just practicing. If he starts rolling then continue to send him out there.

Hes a big part of the future and he needs games to continue to develop. I too think he needs AHL seasoning first but I don’t think it will hurt him to start out with the big club before the A starts rolling (hopefully).

He would’ve have gotten several preseason games up with the big club anyway but this year you don’t have that luxury.

You can read between the lines he has a spot to start off unless he completely shits the bed.

Over/under on the number of times Smith is waived and put on the taxi squad this year? Anytime he is out of the lineup, he grabs a taxi.

I'm betting at least 5X.

Larry must have read my post before he wrote his story. Johnson may not be as easy to move through waivers. If a team gets a couple of injuries on the back end, they might pick Jackson up if he is healthy and playing as well as he is capable.

The scuttlebutt internally is that he is physically ready. Whether his game is ready, or would benefit from the AHL remains to be seen. I expect the Rangers to keep a pretty open mind either way, but they won’t force the issue either.

The front office is very excited about Miller. But I’ve never quite gotten the impression from the organization that they expect him to make the squad. I think the excitement comes from the player they can see taking shape for the future.

Right now, I lean toward him needing more time. I think it’ll probably do him good to spend time with coaches focused on development and really
teaching him the nuances of the position, without Miller also having to balance academic work.

But, if he can handle things, so be it. Let’s roll.

I think Miller needs another year yet I wouldn't be shocked if he were shoehorned in.
If Skjei can play in the NHL so can Miller lol.

I don't think it's lost on Gorton and JD that if you go with Johnson and Smith on the left side this season, you might as well start scouting for the draft. You have no chance to make the playoffs with that garbage on the left side. Forget it. Smith should have been released in the off-season.

It’s the music that cracks me up. Wtf are they listening to?
Zibs mist be in the building and choosing the tunes.

Bread--the combo of the mop top, high socks, and hat just kills me. He does not look like he came to work out. And he just moves around like a nerdy unathletic kid in middle school gym class. Amazing he's a world-class athlete.
