He is a 6.5m player with term. Not better than JT or Matthews.

The only scenario that makes any sense is if they take our trash. Domi Kampf Reaves.

If non performers are out, that's great. I can see a pick with the above to get us a 3c

Kampf is still a useful C... We don't need the cap space necessarily, and I'd be hesitant to move him. Reaves, sure... .

Sure Jankrok works fine. If they actually like Robertson and it changes which pick, that's fine too.

I'd do Domi + Jarnkrok even Reaves... Kampf is still a useful C and C depth is important.

Something around Knies and Cowan. Leafs would have to back channel a long term commitment and be confident he can 2C. Essentially a low cap Ranta for one run, and replacing Mitch with a center thereafter.

I mean.. he's really a winger, not a C. That's one heck of a gamble to take, hoping he can be full time C, that he's never done... all for $13 mil x 8 plus....

I doubt many in hockey see Domi as negative value. Near 0.5 PPG for his contract is reasonable production.

Yes, I do the first one for sure... but St. Louis wouldn't... so... Unless I have a replacement for Robertson, that I feel comfortable with... nah. I don't think he has a long-term future here, I'd just want to know what the plan is.

The Rantanen trade has them in a panic for sure.

None of that is... any new information. What are you talking about? How is it relevant to him displacing Tavares or Matthews to become a top 2 center on Toronto, which was his claim?

Indeed. I don't see it making sense for the Leafs unless they feel that upside can be realized.

Sounds like Canes may have made an even worse gamble, though if they actually talk to the guy, unlike the Avs, they could potentially arbitrage a greater return. Probably not though.

If canes move quick managers will ignore the slump as a culture shock. It's a tough spot though

If Schenn was on the team he would have played 2nd. line center this year while players have been injured.

Who played 2nd. line center when they had injuries? Okay, trick question, they didn't have a 2nd. line center when Matthews was out, they just plugged in 3rd. liners and prayed.

Matthews
Tavares
Schenn

That's much better than anything else they can do right now.

Again, I'm hoping Treliving is doing his job and not using "insiders" to do it.

I’m perfectly good with St. Louis asking for a 1st and prospect for a deal for B. Schenn……. Provided they throw in Parayko as well.

Otherwise Armstrong can go kick rocks….

Yeah I wouldn't worry much about these last ten games. Leafs didn't worry about a whole season when they signed Matty.

But they gave up a lot for him, are they moving him as a rental or a long term piece? Kinda sounds like he's pretty miffed about the whole thing and is just waiting for FA to come around. Foolish business.

Assuming the intel is good anyway..

It would have been great to have a shot at Brady Martin from the Soo. Reminds me of Mike Richards when he was in Kitchener.

I don’t think that’s allowed - but maybe he’s not allowed to be traded back to Colorado this year.

How many recent winners did it without a Top 5 player from the draft?

Even the BLues had 5th. overall Schenn and 4th. overall Pietrangelo..
