Marner and Kampf for Kreider and Trouba is pretty close....cap wise
include Timmins and maybe Rangers give a conditional pick
Trouba is dogshit and not the guy you think he is. He doesn't even produce offense anymore.

Nashville seems like a good team to target in a trade.

One guy that I have interest in is Michael McCarron. Former 1st round pick that salvaged a career as a plugger. He's a huge guy (6'6") which Tre and Berube will love, but he can skate, take faceoffs (52.2% career), and loves to hit. He mostly plays wing but can draw in at centre like Lorentz. He's also a right shot, which is valuable for d-zone faceoffs.

The best part is he's under control for another year with just a 900K cap hit. You can throw him in on an energy or crash and bang line, and he can replace Reaves' fighting while adding a bit of offense and gives us another guy like Domi who can step in at centre in a pinch.

He shouldn't cost too much to acquire imo. We could maybe even try to get Sissons too.

Nashville and Pittsburgh are definitely 2 teams that are fits for a trade with the Leafs.

Kreider's stat-line is wild this year: Not a single assist through 19GP, but scoring at a near-40G pace. He'd still be a great add, but this sounds like an on-the-fly retool, not a rebuild for the Rangers. I imagine they're thinking hockey trade and trading off our D core to fix our C depth is just filing one hole while creating another.

For f*** sakes, we all would have paid more than a fourth round pick.

Yeah that's a weird one for the Preds. They also lost Fabbro on waivers, who has been excellent for the Blue Jackets. So not a great month for the Preds. Tomasino is overrated but he would have been a solid RW option for the Leafs. This also means we sort of know where Robertson's value is.

But maybe this opens up a trade for O'Connor for the Leafs.

Don't think Toronto should be or is in the market for the unknown. Tomasino 100% can't be your 3rd line center as a contending team, and Toronto has more then enough depth/fringe wingers.

Just getting a 3C allows Toronto to look deeper upfront on multiple lines. At this point, a winger for Toronto is a luxury piece, not a need.

Fair and I don't disagree.

I am also in the market for any fringe C, better than fringe wingers of which we have too many.
Tomasino was probably worth the gamble, but I think Pred fans have the opinion he cannot play C?

Ideal pre-deadline:

Granlund (50% retained by Blue Jackets) for Robertson + 26 1st + 25 4th (to BJs)

Holmberg + 25 3rd + B/C prospect for B Tanev 50%

Knies - Matthews - Domi

McMann - Tavares - Marner

Tanev - Granlund - Nylander

Lorentz - Kampf - Dewar/Reaves

Pacioretty bumps Tanev down if/when he comes back.

It’s it usually a 4th for 1/4 retention from a second team? With San Jose not being able to retain, that 3rd party team is retaining 1/2.

Exactly the kind of scenario I was hoping would come up for Matt Murray.

What’s your ask from Carolina?

Not saying 1 for 1 of course, but does Roslovic for 3C hold any interest?

I'd do a conditional trade... Chicago's 3rd round 2025 pick, if he plays more than 10 games, or our 2026 6th round back.

He wants to be in the states so I’d imagine it wouldn’t be on the table

I think they’d give up the assets for Blackwood before giving up their leading goal scorer for a backup AHLer.
