Yeah. We can fill that from within I would think. I don't mean the "enforcer" role, I mean the 7 to 9 minutes of ice time.

This one is easy to to me. Waive Reaves, if we lose him, we lose him. If we don't, we get the roster spot and most of the cap space. He doesn't have to play for the Marlies and will probably still dress him from time to time but his roster spot is better shared across Dewar, Steeves, Minten, and Grebenkin.
Unless they have a trade lined up, Reaves is probably getting waived.

If they demote Minten and Grebs, and waive Reaves... they can hold onto everyone until the 3 LTIR amigos show up.

This buys them time until they have a trade worked out to unload players. Trying to get players through waivers is probably the last resort.

I am losing track, who are the three LTIR guys? Jarnkrok and who else? Paccioretty?

Jarnkrok, Kampf, and Paccioretty.

Once one of these show up, and assuming everyone is healthy, we are playing Waiver Russian Roulette unless they have trades lined up.

This assumes Minten and Grebs go down, and they waive Reaves who no one will claim.

Kampf is LTIR? I didn't know that.

Honestly I'd love Kadri, but I just don't see how it makes sense with that contract. The dude has 3.5 years left at 7M and is 34 years old. Would cost a massive premium to get Calgary to retain a meaningful amount for 3.5 years, and then you still run the risk of bringing in a 34 year old with 3.5 years left on his contract (and paying a premium for doing so).

Id be looking more at Brock Nelson, Gourde, Giroux (if Ottawa falls out), Granlund, etc.
Brock Nelson will cost too much in assets and cap than we can afford. He'll get an absolute haul this deadline.

Depends on how big of upgrade and what hole you're trying to fill. If the objective is just to get a slightly cheaper 4th line thats slightly more effective 5v5, then sure thats an internal play.

But we dont have an internal option that brings that combo of matchup quality 5v5 defense( at c or w), right shot faceoff ability, pk, and physicality.

Just a reminder that Kadri had 29 goals
and 79 points last year.

Having Kadri in the playoffs would be a dream come true. This man loves the team and will sacrifice everything for us to win. He is exactly the guy we will need for the long playoff battles. Best 2/3 option for me AINEC. If they can do it, I’m all for it.
I'm old enough to remember when having Kadri in the playoffs seemed like a dream come true.

The contract and term are also not a fit for us.

#1 leafs target should be Yanni Gourde, i know his stats over years but he every thing you want from a 3rd line center... and the cost could be extremely pretty good for leafs.

Despite his size, he extremely hard to play against because he playing with so much grit. Team-oriented player who will do everything he could and sacrifice his body whatever what for his team. He can play up and down the line up, can play in every part of the game. A guy who perfectly fit with what leafs need and in Berube system

I could see a knies/Mcmann-gourde-marner line playing against toughest opposition like marner did in 2018 alongside plekanec and marleau.

I think Bjugstad is probably the best bet when considering acquisition cost, and the style of game we are playing.

I’m thrilled with Stolarz and Woll, partly because I don’t have to keep hearing about John Gibson to the Leafs bullshit that’s always been like fingernails on a chalkboard.

Someone else can hitch themselves to that wreck, and how appropriate that it’s rumored to be the Oilers.
John Shannon is still trying to will the Lalongo to the Leafs trade to happen.

I'm liking the idea of Bjugstad as well.

What do we think he realistically costs? Could we send Robertson the other way that deal?

Kadri didn’t work as a #3C before and in skeptical because he’s the same as Tavares but signs for much longer at a non bargain cap hit

Kadri is 34, with another 4*$7mm to go.
Tavares, 34, has to be re-signed.
They are less than a month difference in age.

Tavares had a down year, Kadri had an up year.
Tavares is 1 PPG this year, Kadri is .5 PPG.

I think Tavares is still the better overall player.

Gourde could make sense if they retain 50% and the return is relatively low. We don't have an infinite amount of cap space so we have to make it count. I just don't think it does enough to improve the roster with how he's currently producing. He doesn't change the dynamic, adding an element we desperately need. But I could be wrong.
I’d take a long look at Minten in the 3C role before I add salary for a player like Gourde. But if Minten can’t handle 3C, we will definitely need a good center at the deadline like Granlund, Laughton or Frost.

Not that long ago people were suggesting Nylander for Gibson in trade proposals lol

Why do so many think he trashed the city?
He said the attention wasn't for him, he just wanted less spotlight to raise his family lol

It's not some personal attack
I honestly probably just saw someone say this and didn't hear or read any quote from him

His reasoning is completely fair in that regard

I don't necessarily think it was a personal attack on the city, but it's be more honest for them to just say they couldn't handle the pressure and expectations
