Is Patty Kane actually on the market? I know it's maybe crazy but is a Nylander and Sandin package a good package if Chicago retains 50% of that contract for the year? I think it's actually a good trade for both teams but the only problem is idk if I want to trade Nylander and Sandin but Kane and Tavares together would be pretty elite. Might be better knowing if Kane would possibly re-sign here for like 2-3 years at a cap hit around Nylanders at worst.

Writing off power forwards as a position because the Leafs haven't been able to find a good one is a tough take.
No where in my post did I write off a power forward as a position, tough to read I guess.

All I said was its Toronto fanbase newest obsession's on what we need to win, and the reality's is most good power forwards don't get traded unless your name is Tkchuck and you go for a haul. Players like Ritchie/Folgino/Crouse/Anderson/Benn are now a poor mans powerforward and shouldn't be even considered.

If you can get me a Wilson/Tkchuck/Kane/Shanahan type power forward I'd take them no problem.

You’re using “/“ for players that don’t have remotely the same value.

I was responding to the part where you said "...even though most of them aren't very good."

But I agree, most available power forwards aren't going to be the cream of the crop, and spending as little money on them as the Leafs won't get you much mileage.

Without watching anything except a highlight pack on YouTube of his 14 NHL games - Fabian Zetterlund may be the Leafs guy. He’s only 5’11 but he weighs in at 220 lbs which is more than any forward except Ovechkin from my minimal research. He just put up a very good season in the AHL (including 8 points in 5 playoff games) and had a good stint in the NHL. He may be available because NJ has a logjam in their bottom 6.

Edit: Reaves, Wilson, Deslauriers all also play at 220 lbs, Tarasenko at 228.

If you're going to add Kane it's to add him to the big 4, not take away from it.

No way I give up Nylander and Sandin for 1 year of a soon to be 34 year old Kane.

I'd move Nylander elsewhere and find other ways to bring in Kane as a replacement.

I peg Chicago to be after picks and prospects more than a Nylander for the immediate future as they are clearly aiming to have the best chance possible at drafting Bedard. I do agree that Kane would have to re-sign here in order to have that magnitude of acquisition value to the Leafs.

Kane will be moved for something along the Eichel package as a rental with some retention involved. Either a couple 1sts and a good prospect. Or 1st, good prospect and young NHLer.
So people are expecting a Cup win this year?

Or is winning one or two rounds worth renting Kane?

What are the odds they go from winning nothing to winning it all?

Someone must have the odds on that.

I feel like Kane would have a Marner-esque ability to get the most out of Tavares' game. I like the potential of Nylander a lot, and know full well trading him could result in watching him becoming a ppg+ 1C/1RW elsewhere for the next 5 years but maximizing Tavares' on ice value is pretty enticing. Kane at 50% for Nylander. Kane with Tavares+Matthews+Marner could give the Leafs 3 100 point players.

Bunting-Matthews-Marner
Knies-Tavares-Kane
Robertson-Kerfoot-Jarnkrok
Engvall-Kampf-NAK

Rielly-Brodie
Muzzin-Holl
Giordano-Liljegren
Sandin-Benn
Mete

Murray
Samsanov

Leaves the leafs about $1.8 million to sign Sandin if he's not traded with Nylander for Kane @ 50%.

I feel like Crouse is far overvalued here. Would he even provide more value than Kerfoot for us? Kerfoot has three years above his career high of points...
The over value more reflects how badly balanced the team is/was, not how over rated crouse is. Crouse is an element this team needs, it doesn't mean people want a team with all crouses.

Same way Dubas traded for Foligno. Same way a #6D is beside Rielly in the playoffs against Tampa. Balance the team properly and you won't end up in these over valuing / over playing situations.

If our main objective of getting players is because they hit, we may as well have stuck with the Nonis era. Sure the team was bad but they hit and thats the important thing.
I say this as someone who wouldn't mind getting Crouse
You mean the same nonis who guessed right going with pure skill and finesse in nylander instead of falling in the ritchie trap?

Ironic as well since dubas most promising prospect seems like a 20 goal 150+ hit guy if he works out, a stat line people want to inject into lineup through Crouse. Crouse name pops up because coyotes are in free fall. It's not rocket science. If players are there for the taking they will be spoken about and if they have some stats that would fit in nice here some people will like that player.

If you’re looking to acquire Kane (50% retained) and a potential contract extension, I think it’ll cost Sandin, Robertson and a 1st.

Then you’d need to flip Holl and Kerfoot for picks and sign De Haan to a 1x1.

Knies - Matthews - Kane
Bunting - Tavares - Marner
Engvall - Kampf - Jarnkrok
Anderson - Gaudette - Aube-Kubel

Rielly - Brodie
Giordano - Liljegren
Muzzin - De Haan

Murray - Samsonov

This is a candidate for worst post of the year.

They have beef with like 1 guy whose on the extreme end of hits and grit so now everyone has to suffer for how that one guy affected them.

You’re missing a Willy in there?

I’d love Zetterlund personally

the last player we had like Crouse was Nick Ritchie lol. He's bad at everything besides physical play and having a scoring touch in front of the net

This isn't true about Crouse though. He can skate. He can actually connect on hits. He can score on the rush. Is sound defensively. PKs. There's a big difference between Crouse and Ritchie.
