I was on the trade Muzzin bus but now Im not so sure. The options for forwrards have dwindled and I am really high on Knies and Bunting. I think Knies Bunting will be our top 6 LWers next season so I dont feel as much of a need to swing for a big top 6 forward. Thats the only way you move Muzz, to clear space for a top 6 forward around 5 mil.
I think Dubas would be happy to trade Muzzin and a 3rd or 4th round pick for a slightly worse D, so long as the player made $3.5 or less and their contract ends next summer. We would have to give the pick to pay for the cap space.

Trading Muzzin for a forward isn't the only possibility.

The "Too many moving parts and I didn't look at cap space" edition;

Nylander + Holl For Bertuzzi
Kerfoot + Sandin + Knies + 2nd For Chychrun + Crouse
Muzzin + 3rd for Villardi
Klingberg on the cheap!

Bertuzzi - Matthews - Marner
Crouse - Tavares - Robertson
Bunting - Villardi - Jarnkrok
Engvall - Kampf - AubeKubel

Rielly - Brodie
Chychrun -Klingberg
Giordano - Liljgren

Murray
Samsonov

You know we could always just trade Sandin and sign a 7th D for league minimum. I feel like it's a lot of Travis Dermott paranoia with the guy. Liljegren has been the better of the two.

2 years of Nylander and Holl for 1 year of Bertuzzi?

Probably wouldn't have to twist Yzerman's arm on this deal.
Yeah, that's bad.

If Klingberg came cheap sure.

Is a grocery stick the thing people use when facing to pull an item from the back thwy cant reach

can someone explain the Lawson Crouse love affair some people have on here? I

I'd be fine with him, and his career high of 34 points.

Wouldn't overpay for him, but good size and maybe he's a breakout candidate?

Hard to know how good anyone is on the Coyotes it is such and embarrassment to the league.

I rather see how Douglas looks though.

Which Canadian team is going shopping for Bunting in 2023? We know they want to. It's getting too tight in Edmonton but Calgary, Vancouver and Ottawa will have the cap space.

I'd rather keep Kerfoot if the likely alternative is for the team to spend draft picks on a top 9 forward by the tdl.
Kerfoot was 33-35 points prior to last season and a third of his points this year were secondary assists. They don't need to spend $3.5M for a 12 goal winger with their current cap situation.

I feel like Crouse is far overvalued here. Would he even provide more value than Kerfoot for us? Kerfoot has three years above his career high of points...
Yes easily. Points are great but they aren’t everything and need to be taken in context.

Kerfoot rolls out with shooters every night which isn't a thing in AZ. 16 second assists this season to Crouse's 3.
One of them is definitely set up to succeed a lot more than the other so its a reasonable assumption. But for sure he is overvalued based on most of his proven accomplishments. Check his GvA to TkA numbers though.

Is the coach to get the most out of Crouse? Nick Ritchie played at a certain level for 5 years except for his time in Toronto. Marchment spent most of his pro career under Keefe and never took off. Foligno and Simmonds produced nothing. Not every type player works for every coach and I think if they want success the addition has to be compatible with the coach's game. It should be a player that impresses SK because that is the guy that will have a role.

Crouse has been overrated since junior. His dissappponting career for an 11th overall pick has been no surprise to anyone who was paying attention, and now he's likely looking for a $5m payday from some GM who drools over size.

I'd think the player has to be able to skate, or be above average on something tangible.

You wouldn't really assess a player like Crouse just for his points. He had 20 goals playing in a very bad team

He also led the team in hits, willing to drop the gloves and can be a solid net presence

Last time we had a player was Owen Nolan and Roberts

Most ppl forget to add that his 34 points came in 65 games span. Full season he probably gets 40+ points

Would take a Crouse over overhyped overloved players like Kerfoot Engvall and Mikaheyev

Who when push comes to shoves goes into a corner and just cries

he hits, leafs don't have any hitters, even the guys who have size play a soft game
ultimately they need people that hit and block shots but at least hit to make it harder on other teams d. get them to make mistakes and then take advantage with all that skill leafs have

If he can skate, be nice to see how he would do on this line:

Crouse-Tavares-Nylander

Has he ever been on a good team?
At any point in his hockey career?
Junior nope.
AHL nope.
NHL nope.

His career average is 43pts/82gp

His career average is 43pts/82gp

What's better is that as a Leaf he's produced at near that same career pace just at even strength (38pt pace), with almost no PP time or production (only 6pp pts in 3 seasons as a Leaf).

still, though, still a contract to move in our current situation imo.
