Florida surprised me last year as I had them battling for the 3rd/4th in the Atlantic Div. I didn't really trust them then and not really now either. Expect them to take a few steps back, but they are set up better down the road after this trade. IMO .. They likely be battling for the WC spot as they reset.
However the Florida Panthers did break NHL’s record for goals scored during salary cap era with 340 Goals for. That’s an average of 4.15 goals per game, making them the first NHL team to average north of four goals a game since the 1995-96 Pittsburgh Penguins did it with Mario Lemieux and Jaromir Jagr.
Our Leafs with Auston popping 60 himself finished 2nd in GF with 315 and with Mitch and WIlly having career goal scoring years also. So Florida had a +25 GF more advantage than the next best team and room to drop. Tkachuk scored 42 and a better goal scorer Huberdeau 30.
For me I watching closely when our Leafs contracts of our core 4 end in 2-3 years and then how their new cap hits position them in the Atlantic.
PLD is going to be pretty hated in Winnipeg this year, should be fun to watch.
And if they don't move Scheif or Wheeler, or anyone from their core .. that could be a power keg.
The Jets only notable move is signing Rittich ... they've done nothing up front or on defense.
If he would take that it would already be done.Thoughts on sandin at 3 yrs 4.8 million (1.6 per)
they're not going to do anything other than 12/6 during the regular seasonRoll 11/7 with Simmonds as the extra. Don't feel comfortable with the prospect of Jordie Benn being the 7th D
Like I said wait, watch and see.Personally I think he's the right candidate.
Any other notable caphit on the team is a more crucial and harder to replace piece.
And of course he has an empty caphit where his salary is actually only league minimum, which should make him more attractive.
If there is a chance guys like Rodrigues or even Stastny are available for under $2M I wouldn't both with a player like Galch. If they are going to impede their young guys it should be for someone who could move the needle at least a smidge. How many Maltans do they need? Move Kerf and do the final tweaks. What's Alex Galchenyuk up to this fall? Up and down player and highly controversial due to his high profile OT error but he seems like the kind of minimum wage reclamation we could use for $750,000.

Hot take.. I'd rather have Kerfoot whose a proven 40 point + player than any of the lottery tickets on the open market.
Fair point.I'd rather keep Kerfoot if the likely alternative is for the team to spend draft picks on a top 9 forward by the tdl.
Rodrigues would likely play C over Jarnkrok, who is better off as a winger.Rodrigues would be a good add
Sign Rodrigues, Trade Kerfoot
Bunting Matthews Marner
Robertson Tavares Nylander
Engvall Jarnkrok Rodrigues
Kampf-NAK
Rielly Brodie
Muzzin Holl
Giordano Liljegren
Sandin

yeah because in two years he's gna be better than kane......Here's an interesting proposal, with Chicago looking to shed salary, how about,
To Toronto-
Patrick Kane 50% retained
Connor Murphy
To Chicago-
William Nylander
Alex Kerfoot
Rasmus Sandin
Now I understand Kane is a UFA after this upcoming season, but I wouldn't be surprised if his next contract will end up being less then what Willy will be commanding in 2 seasons. Murphy becomes your partner for Rielly.
Holl needs to go. He is atrocious. If he’s still here come opening night I’ll be sick.I don't understand people saying trade Kerfoot to make room for Sandin.
Where does Sandin fit in this defence?
Rielly-Brodie
Muzzin-Liljergren
Giordano-Holl
More than likely Holl is moved and Sandin signs a one year prove it deal.
I'm hoping it's Muzzin. Zeke is gonna lose it.It won’t be Kerfoot. Wait, watch and see.
