What an off season for the Flames. Started out nightmarish and now they have improved in the end.

Milano would be okay here but not really what we need. I'm fine with potentially losing him. Our big forward add likely comes at the deadline which is where it was trending

CGY makes the most sense for him. He competes with Pelletier for a top 9 spot on a fairly good team.

He would have much tougher competition here, and is not as great of a fit for what we need unless we moved someone.

The only other PTO I could see is possibly Subban for us. I just think he retires and becomes a media guy

Stralman makes sense as well, arguably more than Subban. Although he is 35 and may not want the hassle.

Nobody else is worth it now (outside of Stralman and Subban) unless we just need fillers who won't have any real chance at a contract.

I like Calgary's team more now than before. Don't see a winning formula with Tkatchuk, Gaudreau and Monahan. I hope Kadri can keep his play to at least 75 point range, I'd hate if this one year is just a flash in the pan. Will be interesting to see these guys under Sutter.

The Oilers are losing respect with adds like Kane and now Virtanen. At least Kane is a good player just looking from an on ice perspective but Virtanen makes 0 sense

He was found not guilty. Whether you agree with it or not, that should mean he should not be blacklisted.

He is just flat out not a very good player though. I guess they are betting on prestige but he has zero smarts at all... So even without the legal cloud around him, he should not have brought much interest. The legal cloud should have made the interest non-existent, but I guess the Oilers are desperate for depth.

I don't think we'll see Subban sign a PTO. I imagine he will survey the landscape of the league and join a team around Christmas time where he can see if a team has injuries. He won't be all that expensive.

Some rest will do him good. He really started to fall off after he hurt is back that one year in Nashville doing off-season workouts. Subban's worst enemy is how good he used to be. People will always compare him to that rather than to what his competition is (which is now the 3rd pairing defenceman in the league).

We lack a right handed shot on the PP. Stralman would definitely be ok too.

More so was subban. I was just saying I’d prefer subban as a pp option. Stralman would be more depth.

Subban is not a great PP option anymore either.

If we want a RHD on PP, it should absolutely be Liljegren before anyone else. No idea why he is not given more opportunities, especially with people so fixated about having a "shot" on the backend.

So new stuff from CJ today on Sandin and another note.
-leafs and him continue to talk which is good
-leafs had offers of 1 year at his QO, and 2 years at Liljegren's number. Sandin countered with 1 year at Liljegren's number. They are a couple thousands apart so you have to think they'll figure it out soon but nothing yet
-Keefe has raised questions about Sandin's conditioning in the past.

Here is the interesting one
-heard Leafs have a couple players who might not be ready to start the season but CJ hasn't confirmed that yet

That explains the lack of trades for that last bit. I have a feeling Simmonds is one of those players.

I'm going to guess the Leafs/Sandin end up on a 1 year 1.25M deal.

I read that as 2 different thoughts
1 RH shot on the PP
2 Stralman would be ok too.
But I could be wrong.
Maybe. In either case, there aren’t any very good RD options left unsigned. As others have mentioned, Liljegren is a right shot D who could play on the PP.. but then Nylander is a right shot too.

Flyers are going to have a tough season already, but with Couts potentially out for the season they are screwed. Torts is going to have fun.

His shot is a good fit for our PP too, he's not trying to score top shelf with it but just getting a heavy shot at the pads to give Matthews and Tavares rebounds to pounce on. We need prime Franson's shooting mechanics on the back end, not Subban playing hero with a 5-minute long wind up aimed at a corner everytime.
