Rest in Peace Johnny Bower
Seems like a ridiculous price. I get that Tampa has earned the benefit of the doubt, but wow wtf.
Also is Tampa without their 1st until 2026 now?

Yes the culture is different. They are a team that was a step down from the Leafs after unloading a couple of important players last offseason already and not adequately replacing them, and then the Leafs went ahead and added ROR and Acciari for roughly half of what Tampa paid for Jeannot - whose real need (Tampa's) was more depth of NHL calibre D.One of them is coming out of the lineup for Jeannot it looks like.
The price is still bat-shit crazy to me but the philosophical difference between Dubas/Brisebois is crazy to me. Tampa had no need for Jeannot when they had guys like Paul, Maroon, Perry, Hagel and Cirelli anyways. Heck, even Ross Colton plays with an edge.
But they still decided to get him anyway. The culture is vastly different
Like he did in Florida? It's going to be pretty funny when Acciari actually has the playoffs series performance that folks are predicting for Jeannot....
Id like another bottom 6 forward if possible. If the upgrade on D can't happen, Id rather get another forward. I don't need Dubas tossing a 3rd for Schenn when it won't really do much.
Give me Lafferty and Murphy and I'm thrilled. I'm not sure we've got the assets (at least the ones I'd move), to get this done.
Like he did in Florida?
A lot of leafs fans said the same thing when Hagel got tradedWhat a shit trade by tampa
I would have taken Foote off their hands if they were just going to give him away lol
Holy ****, did Tampa just lose there minds?
If Jeannot doesn't go on another lengthy shooting bender that trade is going to look ******* terrible
I guess that's what you do when your extremely successful core is starting to get a bit older, no point in dying wondering now just burn the boats and go for it until your forced to rebuild
In no particular order:
Schenn
Lyubushkin
Tanev
Bogosian
Forbort
Peeke
Fabbro
Murphy
Manson
Soucy
McCabe
Preferably two from this group. One probably wouldn't cut it and they'd stand out like a sore thumb.
The Leafs are not at the over the hill desperation stage that Tampa is, so it's not a price worth entertaining, as he doesn't move any needles.Betcha there was a bidding war for Jeannot & Leafs were in on it. Tampa is looking right past Leafs at Boston with this trade. Leafs still lacking a couple tougher D & a couple hard banging forwards. Jeannot would have checked a lot of boxes.

At this point with the prices being what they are.....it's probably time again to take another shot with Bobby McMann - he of his 15 goals in his last 15 AHL games.
Big, strong, fast, decent in the corners and in front of the net.....decently soft hands too. Play him with Acciari, or even ROR. I'd rather see upside than a meh bottom 6 add that doesn't move the needle.....plus Knies too perhaps.

Turned out to be the player they thought they are getting
Tampa identifies a player and then goes for it
3 years in a row to Stanly Cups finals
Tannot will be a very good power forward. They lost nobody. They'll sign some free agents in place of those draft picks.
Which may or not pay out
I think we can assume a team who's been to the Cup Finals every year since 2020, winning the Cup twice back to back, knows what they're doing...
What should they have upgraded on in your opinion instead?

Though worth noting Hagels impact with the Bolts has been larger starting this season than it was during the playoffs last year. If he helps playing a major part of them getting back to the finals remains to be seen still
Though I don't disagree with the gist of what you're getting at - Bolts are in win now mode and absolutely should be dumping draft capital for pieces that help it.
Yeah I'm going to go with not giving up a crap ton of assets for that guy
I'm amazed at how excited you lot get when the words "physical" and "gritty" get chucked around, he isn't that good
