I could not imagine the reaction here if Dubas made that trade. There’d be no “well he’s a good player” (he’s not)

Just absolute hilarity.
Just catching up now. That's absurd how much Jeannot just went for. Hitz and a heater babyyyyyy. Great job cashing in on him by Nashville, and we all know he'll shoot 50% against us in the first round and we'll never hear people shut up about it.

As for Meier, I think it's pretty underwhelming by SJ. Shakir is so overrated and always has been, no Holtz, and then a bunch of meh. Two firsts is a nice grab, but like... there's nothing close to a Meier piece in the deal.

Honestly lol. That’s all Jeannot is. Hits and had a heater.

Absurd.

To toronto: Adam Henrique@75% retained + Max Comtois

To Anaheim: 2024 1st (top 5 protected), 2025 2nd round pick, Tyler Voit, McMann, Alex Kerfoot

To team 3: 2025 4th round pick
I can't see management moving Kerfoot under any circumstance.

Tampa only gets the benefit of the doubt becuase they've win 2 cups and made 3 finals. They over paid for goodrow, coleman, Hagel and Savard and they won despite overpaying on value at the time of the trade due to the acquired guys playing winning hockey and playoff style hockey

Aw man, didn’t know that knocking Tampa out in the 1st round could actually get sweeter, but if we did after they dropped all this on Jeannot, I could well laugh myself into oblivion.

Honestly stunned by how much Tampa paid and how little NJ paid for Meier in comparison.

Why do the Leafs need to go all in on Henrique and Comtois? Pretty meh.

Take those assets and go after Ekholm or Fabbro or a defenseman that can go into next year.

Call-up McMann and he'll give you some #hits.

In this market ekholm will cost knies + 2 1sts loll

Henrique is a 45 to 50 pt winger who can play anywhere from line 1 to 3
He's a vet and has a good offensive skill set to provide depth scoring

Comtois gives us some grit and skill in the bottom 6 without paying the absurd price the Bolts paid for jeannot

The player they left unprotected in the expansion draft? I don't think they want to just lose him for the sake of it, but they're not married to him either
I think they're married to both Kerfoot and Holl and knew getting McCann would help get them passed the scary stage of losing them.

Kerfoot has been proposed in trades for 3 years now and I don't believe he's ever been close to be traded.

I could be wrong. We'll know for sure in a week.

Whatever makes you feel better about it.

Further affirms that the Leafs can't go into the playoffs with both Engvall and Kerfoot in the bottom 6

Hope another move is coming.

Why? They just added a guy whose comparable this year is Lucic...

Nothing makes me feel any way about it I'm not a Tampa fan. If it were I wouldn't care about this as I'm a team trying to be a borderline dynasty

I hope this deal blows up for them c9me playoffs. I'm just pointing out the rationale which makes sense from their POV

Mate, not even actual Tampa fans are making sense of it.

There’s no rationalizing.

I'm bout that sire. Schenn it is.

Lauhgton might help us on the dirty third line. Or even fourth. He a killa for scrilla. Tavares might also play that second lin c though. And Ror on the dirty third

We need hitters. No more scorers. We have those already

We need good hockey players. Players that make us better. Acciari was a nice pickup, that's for sure, but then adding a fourth line guy, or a bottom pairing guy, just makes us more physical a minority of the time. They also need to skate, and contribute to the hockey game. Laughton is a guy who can play hockey, can chip in offensively, can PK, and is physical. He'd be a nice pickup.. but I really think if we want some type of physical difference maker, it needs to be a D man, more time on the ice, and a second pairing type, to replace a Muzzin.

“I have strong reason to believe the Flames have considered moving defenceman Mackenzie Weegar.” If actually available, Weegar might be one of the best options out there. Physical, can skate, and is excellent defensively. Down side, Calgary gave him a contract too rich for who he is, and he fancies himself as a contributor offensively.... he should stick to the defensive game, where he excels, and too often he pinches in an inopportune manner, resulting in a 2 on 1 going the other way... which I guess means he fits in perfectly here.

I can't see a way to make that work though.

2. Connor Murphy. Physical Dude, 6'4 212 lbs, RD. Probably a realistic target, 3 years + this year at $4.4 million, so the contract is something we could work with, and term means it's ok to give up more futures not named Knies.

3. I have no idea what Washington is doing.... if they are actually selling, you might want to ask for Nick Jensen... not as physical as the other two, but still pretty physical, on a great contract.

The thing about that trade. It's not just an overpay. It's a severe overpay by like 3 draft picks. Maybe 4.

The price is certifiably insane, but I’m not looking forward to playing him in the playoffs

Jeannot - Paul - Colton versus our third line of Engvall - Kampf - Jarnkrok LMAO

We are about to get bullied in the bottom 6 unless Keefe puts ROR there

Jeannot doesn’t have to score goals, he’ll just hit everything in sight and injure our main players. That’s why TB is on him. Not for goals but for his crashing and banging in playoffs. Remember how Barrie whined after Columbus player hit and went to the locker room in game 5. Same shit happens every playoffs. Man, I wish Leaf could be more dirty in a smart way. Like f.cking Tampa.
Anyone who thinks this is a good move should probably have a nice relaxing game of checkers and contemplate all the life choices that led them to make this conclusion.
