I used to like Seth Jones quite a bit. I know a lot people are down on him and I know he wants to go to Dallas, but if the due diligence from management and the pro scouting checks out, he's a player that would fit our needs.

Honestly I think Mete could have been an effective NHLer if he hadn't been rushed. He needed to develop his fundamentals so he could produce maybe 15-20 points a year from a bottom six role.

Apparently he's nowhere near the player he used to be. That contract is abysmal though. Hughes has a busy summer ahead. A 2C and top 4 RHD are must-adds.

Stamkos was toast last year and Nashville was silly to offer him that contract. He basically just got points thanks to Kucherov on the PP. I wouldn’t want him on the Habs

Possibly, i wont argue your take. But getting a solid 2c in Stammer to carry the middle 6 for the next 3 years is just smart business. 8.5m wont reflect his points but the leadership is immeasurable, even for Suzuki. TB would never ship Stammer in division.. he's available via NSH, opportunity knocks.

Throw in Dach and Newhook going to NSH and wrap it up.

What stats worship? Mete barely had 2 seasons over 10 pts in the NHL. Chiarot blows him out of the water stats wise as well.
I honestly have no idea why Mete was so hyped up. It was dark times for the club.

ROR is also a year younger (34 vs 35).

...I know where he's playing for Smashville; my point was that ROR is a really good defensive #3C on a contender, which is what we want to be in the near future...wasting assets to get THAT is not what we need...

Isn’t Ranttenan a winger? A hard no from me. First, he super benefited from playing with McKinnon for years. Next, if we want to blow a big wad of cash we should be looking for a 1C or a 1RD. Now before anyone jumps on me with @Suzuki@ is our 1C, I think we can have more than one top level Cs, and we have a lot of good wingers that can play with them, especially one Demidov graduates. And all those other C prospects may need time to evolve, and can spend some time on the wing. But for right now, why up our winger game when we only have 1 legitimate top 6C?

I would over pay for Bennett. Just to get top 6 center. He's hard nosed left shot center we need. Probably have to grossly overpay where it is Montreal. Lessen Bennett overpayment by trade Evans replace him with Beck next year. Saved 3 million. Get Chesley or late first for Evans. Use that asset and address our depth on right D.

Goin by what I've been reading, Jones has never been the "player he used to be" after he signed that contract.
