I think you're exaggerating the bolded. Mete was thought to be a 3rd pairing guy at best. Juulsen had great potential and got utterly screwed by bad luck. You're acting like Juulsen simply busted

...amigo, they were forcing Mete down our throats by pairing him with Weber...Mete was a Bargain Bin dream gone bad, as were many...

Hypothetical

The habs are getting Rantanen, or Marner.

same contract at 14 x 7 let's say.

Which one are you choosing and why ?

In real life the habs get neither and they sign Dominik Kubalik and bring him back to the NHL.

Ok not that bad, but theres low belief to land either, but go have fun.

While both are great players, I'd pass on both. I really think wingers are the least of our team's concerns. I feel we'd be much better off spending money elsewhere like on RD or 2C, whether it be through free agency or via trade. That's where I'd have those monies earmarked.

A healthy Laine and perhaps Dach can audition for the last top 6 wing position next season moving forward. If both fail then we can revisit this next offseason. We have more pressing needs imo, especially with Demidov on the way.

He probably won't come here, and he's of course aging, but since we're talking about centers, Tavares is UFA at the end of the season.

It's not because the cap is going up that we should be spending like drunken sailors. Bennett at more than 8M is just crazy.

I'd bet my left and right nut that Tampa wouldn't offer a 2nd, much less two of them for Savard or he'd already be gone.
You already lost them few times ; how can you bet them again and again?

Savard's play this year is a far cry from where it was when they first traded for him for a 1st and a 2nd.
I think you're probably right about Tampa Bay and Savard but do you really want to risk both of them?

Yeah I sure hope his veteran leadership had a big influence this season because they sure missed the boat in trading him at his peak value. I’m thinking he returns a 3rd or 4th max
Seeing how some of the young d are coming along and the words of Arber , I think it has been very much worth it
