Though I was interested in him this summer & would've paid/beat that price to take a flyer on him this year... He'd have beat out Pez & Kapanen for opening night roster I suspect

Yes but Trocheck is american and even this off season ehen his NMC clause ends he still has a 12 team no trade list......most realistic chance for Montreal to get a veteran center is Duchene or Gourde as UFA.

Agreed and I could see Montreal trading Price after they pay his signing bonus on July 1st. He’s only owed $2 million after that.

NYR likely to be moving Kreider and Zib before Trocheck IMO.

I have no idea why the Rags would move important pieces but the guy to target is Adam Fox IF we are looking to bring in a big time player from the Rangers . He is a RHD PMD who has 4 years left on his deal after this one and he is only 26. Allows Guhle tp play LHD and together they should be a great combination. Also allows us to move Matheson. If Reinbacher wasnt injured I could see him being the piece going back. I would not go after Kreider, a winger who has 2 more years after this and doesnt fit our window so well ( and our wingers on the top 6 are Caufield, Slaf, Demi and hopefully Laine ).

One of the main componants of the necessity of Kovacevic for us has a lot to do with our problem on the right size. Mailloux didn't work, most of our left Ds that we transfer to do right look lost, even Ghule, Savard and Barron sucks and Reinbacher is not ready and constantly injured. Hughes was too overconfident, shot his load early and losing that one piece put us in jeopardy. Kova would solidify our whole D squad right now just by being there.

I think those were unique circumstances. Arizona leaving will help the money starved teams too. I don't see teams trading picks for that kind of reason. Teams BUYING bad contracts to be above floor, that's fireable offense.

There’s so much wrong with your post, I don’t even know where to start.

Hughes did not “blow his load” when he traded Kovy, unless someone was under his desk and you were there to see it when he made the trade. He traded 2 depth D that Habs had no space for. Harris and Kovy. Hardly a game changer when it comes to to the Habs D last season or this one. If Kovy was still here, I’d still be a 6th D at best in this team. He’s not a game changing, defence defining player who can magically stabilize the Habs D. Insinuating that is embarrassing and simply comical. It’s like you don’t acknowledge HE WAS ALREADY ON THE TEAM and Habs still finished bottom 5! Where was his magical ability last year? Did it magical fall to him from a UAP flyimg over Jersey? Because even if that was the case, it wouldn’t have fallen to him in Montreal.

This is one of the sadest, most depressing arguments I’ve seen in a long time. Maybe Habs can call up Mario Roberge to settle down the offence and give them the jolt they need, while they’re at it.

First of all, we are worse in our zone this year. Secondly nobody can play freaking hockey on the right side! Nobody! Hell he would probably be Top 2 with us right now because of it. Not saying he's a great D, just that he was a calming presence out there. Plus we can never have enough of big hard working D men in the line-up(was a big reason why it worked so well in our cup run with Weber, Pretry, Chiarot, etc...). When we have many of these big guys, we become hard to play against. Numbers matters.
