Buffalo goes on runs nearly every year early and fall back down to Earth every time. You have a short memory.
It's also the youngest team in the league. At one point they'll stop doing falling down to earth like LA and Colorado did. You also have a short memory ;) Their young dmen are slowly getting older. Dahlin is now 24, Power 21 and Byram 23.

No, I remember Ottawa, Detroit and Anaheim, which are still at the bottom. Being young doesn't guarantee success.

Edit: ;)

Columbus is looking for a player who hasn't popped yet(I guess a player who has potential to be more than what they are/hasn't shown what they are)

Said he doesn't see it with Edmonton, but thinks teams like Nashville, Minnesota, Phillt and others who have a young player they could part with for Jiricek

Showcase Roy for a trade for Jiricek?

think it'll take quite a bit more than Roy.

The NYR are reportedly looking to trade a “physical / imp t producing F” Kreider…

A season is a marathon not a sprint, Habs are 7pts out of a wildcard spot / 3rd the division w 2GP in hand and are about to start playing weaker competition in their schedule w Laine & Roy about to be inserted into the lineup this moving players into proper chairs:

Newhook on 3rd line, Evans to 4th line etc. I will be shocked if Habs don’t enter Dec 5pts or less out of wildcard / 3rd in division…. or in the words of Molson & HuGo “in da mix”

Patience…
He's 33 with a 6.5 mill price tag, that's not the same range as Newhook at all. Rags won't be looking exclusively at futures for Kreider.

The season being a marathon doesn't change an atrocious start of basically 4-6-0 x 2. Trying to overcome this would mean several 7-3-0 in a row, which has been quite unseen in Montreal for some time. If they had been patient, they would have found better things to do with those 2 picks than acquiring Newhook.

I know a lot of people would be pissed but I would be ok with this I don't think Roy will have the spot in our lineup to be successful.

There obviously was nothing equivalent or better available at the time …. this org is not doing a 5year rebuild, when the OWNER is the first to say at season kickoff golf tournament “we expect to be in the mix this year”, to which HuGo then started using the same language …

That was not the owner misspeaking, that was messaging ..rebuild is over financial profits of the business need to be adhered to

They can have Dach or Newhook. Fits what they want and RHD is a need for us.

I bet if they had given these picks for Kaapo Kakko for instance, we'd be less pissed atm. I don't think it's obvious that there was nothing better. They simply went for the little fox belonging in the foxhole tactic. An error they committed twice with Barron afaik.

I’m a huge Roy fan and I wouldn’t be pissed but that’s mainly because I don’t think the organization will excuse his flaws. He alone wouldn’t get it done though.

Just as NYR weren’t trading Lafreniere they were not dealing Kaako….

Am I crazy or does Trouba for Anderson actually make sense?

We need a vet at RHD and even though Trouba is washed up, obviously so is Anderson and it's only a 2.5M cap increase, and he's signed for one less season.

Xhekaj-Trouba would be a hilarious pairing to watch in a blowout game, headshot city!

Not sure what Trouba's NTC is like

Trouba will not waive his NMC out of NYC this year until his wife finishes her residency, so NYR can either find a way to ship him to NYI or NJD or grin & bear it till next summer

We had Kovacevic, who was one of our best +/- dmen the last 2 seasons and who also happens to be NJ best +/- dmen, and we throw him away for a 4th round pick, imagine that.
